Review of Granny’s Kitchen in Ajo, Arizona

Granny’s Kitchen in Ajo, Arizona is a charming, albeit older, spot that delivers on cleanliness despite its worn appearance. The service, however, left much to be desired. With only one waitress managing the entire restaurant, the service was understandably slow. She was incredibly busy and, unfortunately, never checked on us after serving our food.

On a brighter note, the food was quite good. Debi thoroughly enjoyed her omelette, while my huevos rancheros were absolutely delicious. The food quality definitely stands out.

Despite the slow service, we plan to return. Debi is especially looking forward to trying their lunch offerings, particularly their mole sauce.

Cute little place. Seems popular with the locals. The machaca was very dry, but mixing it up with the beans and the amazing salsa made it palatable. The flour tortilla was also very good. I'd eat here again, but I'd probably try something else on the menu.

Love this place! I eat here here everytime I come to Ajo. Great food, great service and very clean. I love the bathrooms, decorated really nice. Chicken sculptures all over the restaurant, I was told customers bring them. I will be on the look out so I can bring one the next time I come. Thank you, can't wait to come back!"

This is a mom and pop run business. Not really much to speak of in the way of atmosphere but the food was really good. I don't understand these negative reviews. I've been waiting to drive down here for over a month. I ordered the green chili and my wife ordered the red chili.

The only thing disappointing about our meal was when we finished and couldn't keep eating. Best green chili I've had in my entire life.

The salsa was great. I don't know why people call it bland. I think it's fantastic.

Worth a stop if you are in the area.

Was good first time I visited. Only thing is today I went at 1 pm and the staff told us they are closed. Even though hours on google maps state they close at 3 pm.

Litterly out in the middle of nowhere (no offense to the locals) is this authentic Mexican restaurant, and quite popular seeing how busy it was. We stopped for breakfast, and the food was very good and fresh. Ordered the Chilaquiles, Chorizo, Eggs and Fried Beans, and it was delicious. Careful, the beans were very hot....and stayed hot too for a long time.
The ladies working there were nice. Service was reasonable. The atmosphere was full of chicken decor. And the place was clean, including the bathrooms.
Would recommend it for sure for breakfast.

Four of us had lunch. Chiles relleno, combo with taco tostada and enchilada, tamales, and taco salad. The taco salad was served with chicken and pronounced excellent. The other three dishes were served with rice and beans and were topped with a red enchilada-type sauce in a style we had not seen before and we felt the sauce detracted from the entrees. The tamales were good although the aforementioned sauce overwhelmed the masa. Each tamale contained a whole olive with pit — another new style that might be a dental nightmare to the unaware. The chiles relleno good. The combo good too. Soft drinks are served in cans from a cold case. Service quick and friendly.

Headed here for lunch after hiking in Organ Pipe in the morning. Had the patty melt with fries. It was tasty, though the patty was a bit small. Fries were cooked well. For some reason google maps won’t let me upload photo of the meal. I’d return again when in the area.
