The location of this hotel could not be better! A short walk to see the seals and sea lions. Walkable to numerous restaurants, shops, and grocery store. We had a small issue with our room and the staff was very prompt in correcting. We were so pleased with the service of the hotel. Everyone was very friendly including front desk, housekeeping, and valet staff. The NINE-TEN restaurant was very delicious! Highly recommend. If we return to San Diego, we would definitely stay here again.

Our suite was very spacious. We had a pretty good view of the ocean even though the hotel is 2 blocks away from it. The staff was very friendly. One of the maintenance managers chatted with us and thanked us for staying at the hotel. He wanted to be sure we were having a good stay. The valet service was very fast and the guys fun to chat with.

Overall the experience was good. The staff was friendly, special shoutout to the maintenance guy who came out at night to fix vent flap that was banging against the wall. Breakfast was very good, lots of options.

The mattress was pretty hard, but otherwise the rooms were fine.

The resort fee is a ripoff and money grab. I was told the resort fee includes: WIFI (which should be free), bike rental (bikes are only free for the 1st hour, after that you have to pay a 3rd party $20 per hour), beach chairs (I visited in March, definitely not beach season), and parking (this one is understandable, but not fair to people who don’t have a car).

This was a classy hotel in a prime location. Food and service were top notch. Loved that the windows open and you can get the ocean breezes in your room. We walked the couple minutes to the beach and enjoyed the sea lions and coffee every morning.

Great location and cute historic property. The rooms do need a bit of updating but hope they stay true to the historic vibe. The room was huge! No complaints in size, however room 410 was right next door to the laundry which runs at all hours of the day. It wasn’t too awful but it also wasn’t great to hear all the time. My bed over was awful, it was horribly uncomfortable and lumpy. I was “rolling uphill” every time I moved. I had a horrible back ache for my entire trip. Luckily my neighbor was quiet but on my last day new guests had checked in and I could hear everything.

The on site dining was unexpectedly closed one day which meant that I had to scramble to find breakfast one morning so that was a bummer.

The resort fee, as others have mentioned, was a bit of a shock.

The Grande Colonial is a marvelous hotel with fabulous service. The views are great and the valet service is quite convenient.|| The morning coffee was a little hard to find. The valet golf cart shuttle was not available when I really needed it. However, friends were nice enough to get an UBER one day and drive me in their rental vehicle the next so I still got to my meetings in time.

The staff are amazing and make you feel at home. The rooms are always consistent and the location is the best in La Jolla. The valet is seamless. Great restaurant. Toiliteries are top notch. Free snacks and water are helpful. The vibe is historic.
