We went here for the first time with friends who hadn’t been a few times.
We sat inside across from the counter against the wall - it was a great spot.
Our server Julie was amazing. Had been in the upscale catering world for decades in the past dining at a restaurant is always either a wonderful or annoying experience.
We truly had the most amazing evening. The food was delicious and the presentation of everything was spot on from the moment we walked up to the hostess and left.
My husband and I can’t wait to dine here again. We are just so sad to know it’s taken us so long to do since we live in Santa Rosa.

We had a superb meal here with excellent friendly service! I highly recommend sitting on the chef’s counter, it was exciting to watch the chefs work their magic and also very nice to chat with the other local diners. We started with the chicory mixed salad with buttermilk dressing, which was very refreshing and it really helped to open the appetite. Then I had the wood roasted whole but deboned Branzino, which was very fresh and unexpectedly sweet from the brown butter sauce. It’s so creamy and very tasty, nothing like any Branzino I have tasted before. My husband had the cocoa pork shoulder which was subtly spicy and surprisingly light. We also had the wood roasted cauliflower which was so yummy, nutty and fruity with the tahini sauce, hazelnuts and pickled raisins. We were full after but I will highly recommend not skipping the dessert, the brown sugar cake with apple was amazing, I am still dreaming about it!

Amazing food and great atmosphere in a beautiful small town of Glen Ellen. Service looked like they needed more people, because our waitress Julie was serving more than 3-4 tables of 10+ people and we waited I think 10-15 mins from when we got drinks to when we ordered food.

The Wagyu was great and when you order the Brussels sprouts be sure to get the Sourdough to eat it together. My girlfriend also liked her Branzino, fresh but creamy.

When I have the occasion to be in the Sonoma Valley, I’ve come to learn that a visit to the Glen Ellen Star is something I need to put on my agenda. My recent trip to the area was no exception and our visit was once again very good!

I always look forward to a start with the brussels sprouts and they were again very good. I think this time they may even have had more bacon than I recall in the past. Definitely a portion size for two. We also started with a Wagyu meatball dish that was excellent. The only other dish we got after that plentiful start was an order of Brick Chicken. Very tasty though I could have perhaps enjoyed a bit more squash in it.

We sat in the main part of the dining room and I like the small cozy nature of the place. It occurs to me that next time I’ll book seats at the bar overlooking the kitchen.

I highly recommend you go out of your way for a visit to the Glen Ellen Star.

The pizza with sourdough was delicious and my husband got the cacao pork shoulder pasta which was good. However, compare to the price, I was expecting a more high end restaurant. The price is $50-$100 per person and the atmosphere is mediocre. Nothing bad, but just lower than my expectation. The tables were also close to each other and there were two couples next to us that were talking loudly and didn’t make our date night very romantic.

WOW 10/10. The food is TOP here. Really really fresh ingredients and stand out bold flavors. We visited during truffle festival week so we added truffle to a margarita pizza and it was hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had. So so delicious. Great service just be advised they may seat you in a different section than you booked if they are busy so if it’s important to you speak up when you first arrive.

We had a wonderful experience dining at the bar overlooking the small but very talented culinary team of Glen Ellen Star. This was our second time dining here since it was mentioned in the New York Times back in 2023, but first time being able to sit at the bar. Gregg was very attentive but not intrusive, and provided great service. We started with the meatballs in the harissa sauce, followed by the simple salad of just mixed greens and honey Dijon vinaigrette, followed by one of their pizzas and the potato soup. Next time we visit we will try the snake river farms american wagyu zabuton after seeing the grill chef prepare close to a dozen to a perfectly seasoned medium rare in front of us, while also preparing all of their pasta dishes and their focaccia bread from the oven. It was truly dinner and a show!

Great service and great food. The atmosphere is nothing special. We had the privilege of seating at the chef’s counter and the “show” was excellent. Just being to watch these chefs prepare the meals as they have choreographed many times was cool to see.
