My first visit to Birmingham. incredible way to start the day! Both vegan and carnivore options available . My husband loved their housemaid bloody Mary. I had a golden monkey latte with oat milk, which was absolutely delicious. Our waiter Tyler was amazing! I had the BE hive bowl which is an incredible vegan option. My husband raved about the chorizo biscuits and gravy. We sat outside on this beautiful fall morning. Highly recommend!

Southern Comfort and Sensibility

We visited from Canada, the Frothy Monkey provided needed comfort. First of all, our server was top notch. The food proportion was sensible to Canadian standards. After go through the south we had too many massive meals.

I felt welcomed in a space with a pride flag. There have been some moments in the south where my husband and I got dirty looks being a same sex interracial couple.

I’d recommend The Frothy Monkey as a rest stop for those needing to relax.

This was my first visit, and I absolutely loved it. I came here to celebrate my birthday with friends. The staff were extremely kind and attentive. Both the food and drinks were fantastic. The gouda grits were my favorite food item, and the Lavender Old Fashioned was delicious. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend if you're in the area.

I'm surprised by the wavering reviews here, but I've visited a few times for breakfast/brunch and the experience has always been great. Servers were personable and accommodating to small adjustments to menu items, the food was fresh and well-prepared and presented, and the atmosphere was always clean, welcoming and pretty active. Based on those past experiences, this location is definitely in the rotation.

Stopped for breakfast while in town on a trip! I had the chorizo biscuits and gravy. And a seasonal lavender beverage. Both were delicious. Service was decent. Atmosphere was on point.

"Did you pay up front?"

Uhhhh. We were eating our croissant and had our to-go coffees in hand already so not sure why the server asked that question.

A different employee had asked us a few minutes earlier if we needed something as we sat on the counter. Told her that we were waiting on our croissant as we'd been sitting there for a second. She asked us if we wanted it heated which seemed strange as we had asked for that when we paid for it. Makes me wonder about the communication that goes on.

Which brings me to my next two points: 1. When we came in, we had a good impression as the place was nice and clean. However, it took forever for someone to take our order, even though there was someone there making coffee. Employees would walk by, see us there but not a "we'll be right with you" or other employees staying amongst themselves, "someone upfront!" 2. That should've been the first red flag. As we waited for some to take our order and after they finally took our order, we waited for our croissant as we drank our coffee, we noticed none of the employees looked happy, they all looked stressed. I mean, noone smiled and everyone in a hurry and quiet. Talk about bad vibes.

Onto the food and drinks. Croissant was ok. Not flaky, but very elasticky, probably caused they nuked it instead of putting it in the over. Coffee drinks, the plume and Havana were super tasty but my cortado was ok.

Probably the least enjoyable experience I've had at a coffee shop.

We stopped here for a quick bite before heading to the airport. They have a great selection of coffees and other drinks as well as a variety of food options. Our server, Isaiah, was friendly and very attentive which made our visit even better. The Chicken Caesar Salad and the breakfast sandwich Capri were both well portioned and delicious. We will be back next time we are in Birmingham.

Was in town for 24 hours and this was right around the corner from my hotel. I had the chorizo biscuits & gravy and a monkey mocha (sweet but not too sweet. Food was spectacular, eggs perfectly cooked & nothing needed additional seasoning. This place is legit. Waiter (didn’t get his name) was super friendly and on top of things.
