THIS is a restaurant you have to check out while in Tuscaloosa! It’s located inside of University Mall. You have several menu selections to serve from- anywhere from soul food to Shrimp boils to hamburgers! And they also have a hot bar ready to order from. The owner has a beautiful personality and my experience with the servers and staff was great also. Check them out!

You must go.

My son and I found this by happenstance and so glad we did. We were greeted with a warm welcome. Very friendly at the counter. Got the shrimp boil and it was so flavorful, but not overpoweringly spicy. Perfect! The Mac was excellent and next time we will try the soul food items from the hot bar. Not a fancy place. Prices were reasonable. They have specials all the time and Thursdays are college night (I think).
Check these folks out. I am a food writer and I was impressed.

This is some of the best food I’ve ever ate in my entire life. I swear I thought I hated greens, but after eating theirs I just realized I never had them made right because they are now my favorite thing to eat! Such amazing people to! God bless them all!

If you can’t get mama’s home cooking, come by here. I didn’t need to add any salt or pepper, the meat is tender.. everything was amazing. Good southern food and hospitality! I’ll definitely be back!!!

First and probably only time trying this establishment. It was just too much going on for none of it to speed up service but the internet was supposedly down, so I won’t say what it’s like on every other occasion.

Food was literally ok. I wanted the over roasted chicken but they looked tiny & overcooked, so I settled for the fried chicken and mac and cheese. I received 3 wings with my order and they were pretty good and seasoned. The little bit of mac and cheese I tried wasn’t THAT great but so about a 6/10.

However, the older woman at the door was a great host!

It’s black owned & probably just getting adjusted, so I wouldn’t knock it until I’ve tried it if I were you! ?

Great service,
My son has autism and he started to cry mid way while waiting in line, the lady workers were so compassionate and friendly to my me and my son.. it warmed my Heart to not be looked at as disruptive clients.. by the way I stood in line for the OX tails… which are amazing.. they gave my baby some chicken and he tore it up when he
got in the car… I recommend this place as a number one stop when in Tuscaloosa.. Great Food and Great Service… Seasoned to perfection…

I went on 3/26 for the first time and I ordered the catfish dinner with 2 sides and also got a side of green beans. My 2 sides were the Mac and cheese and the yams. This catfish is absolutely perfect. Nice and crispy has a lot of flavor and it’s big pieces. Whenever I eat catfish usually I will need tartar sauce or some sort of sauce but not this one it’s absolutely delicious probably the best catfish I have ever had. Their green beans were really good had lots of flavor just wish it was less liquid but their yams OMG absolutely delicious I devoured it in minutes. The only thing that was disappointing was the Mac and cheese I was really excited for some good Mac and cheese but this Mac and cheese had no flavor and it was dry. The corn bread was also good. I will 100% be coming back cause their food was worth the price and it was absolutely delicious. I want to try their smothered pork chop one day but idk if anything can beat that catfish.

This place is soul food Heaven!!! Macaroni and cheese is super cheesy and tasty. The greens are flavorful and amazing!!! Hamburger steak was flavorful and fresh and not dry!!! And the junkyard dog was so good oh my gosh I have to come back for more. Oh yeah and the prices are amazing to0!
