I recently stayed at Elan Hotel in Los Angeles and had a generally pleasant experience. The location is excellent—central to everything, with easy access to restaurants, shops, and attractions. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and I appreciated the complimentary wine during their happy hour—it was a nice touch.

That said, the property is currently undergoing renovations, which was noticeable in some areas. My room was a bit outdated and could use some updating to match the rest of the space. It didn’t impact my stay too much, but it’s something to be aware of if you’re expecting a fully modern experience.

Overall, a solid choice if you’re looking for a well-located spot with great service, especially once the renovations are complete.

I’ve stayed at multiple hotels in Los Angeles and Elan is definitely the one I’m coming back to. After such a hectic flight the last thing I wanted to deal with was a hard check in; Oscar was so amazing and so patient dealing with my boyfriend and I at 2am.

While we noticed renovations were happening he offered to move us to another room if we had any problem; We appreciated the offer although it wasn’t needed as the rooms are greatly tended to. He gave us great recommendations for places he personally enjoys and was without a doubt the best part of our stay at Elan. Thank you so much for making our stay so memorable! We’ll be back!

Britney, at the front desk is great. When we arrived, we were unclear about the room status due to the construction. But Britney put us at ease quickly and helped us get settled with ease. She gave us a much needed warm welcome. Thank you, Britney!

Manny was also great. Friendly and hospitable.

The coffee lobby is a wonderful perch for contemplation and meeting. 🙂

I reserved a three-day stay at this property, but for the wrong dates(!). I was working on two different trips at the time, and somehow ended up making the booking for November instead of December. I did not notice the error until the property started emailing me the day before the (incorrect) check-in date, when it was already too late to cancel. ||As soon as I realized what had happened I contacted the hotel to explain the situation. I certainly expected to pay for the first night—it was my own stupid mistake, after all—but had I hoped the property would work with me to apply the other two nights to the dates I really needed. Unfortunately the manager decided to be a hard-case about it and charged me for the entire three-night stay … even though I informed them the day before they were expecting me that I would not be using the room. And then, adding insult to injury, they proceeded to send me automated emails asking how my stay was going, and if I needed anything. ||I ended up booking my stay at a cheaper property a few blocks away. I was going to invite my friends, who also attend events in the area, to evaluate this property as a possible place to stay, but I certainly won’t be recommending it now. And I will NEVER stay here again … in fact, if I have to, I would rather pay 50% more to stay at the Sofitel across the street. It’s a much nicer hotel—and it has a normal cancellation policy. ||I chose the Elan Hotel because, when I stayed there in 2019, it was clean, comfortable, and relatively inexpensive compared to other hotels in the neighbourhood ... but there is nothing especially wonderful about it. If you are thinking about booking here I urge you to think again, or at least be very careful. These are not nice people to deal with.

I was fully prepared to give a solid 3 star review. The location was perfect for where I needed. And it's not too hard to find, but that was all the positive that I have for it.

Mind you, the hotel is under construction. I didn't know that when booking because it's not on the official website, where I booked my stay. Not the worst thing, but I wish I would have known that before booking. First of all, the garage parking is not the greatest, it's very easy to get your car trapped in there if you're in one of the spots that are close to the wall. Again, not horrible, just made sure to park where I can get out. Then we got up to the second floor where the majority of the renovation is happening. Our room was on the other side of it and seemingly the only way to get there was to go through it because there was no signage stating to go a different way. The completed part of the floor still looks unfinished, even to the untrained eye. Get into the room and it does look clean, but then I notice that for a new room that the furniture is not the same, again not the worst, but then you start noticing all of the other little things you expect for a hotel stay, like a mirror anywhere, soap, a comfy bed, even a do not disturb sign. It had a balcony that didn't feel safe to be on. Some of the outlets didn't work. It was just overall weird.

I'm generally one to just keep it pushing and try to make the best of things. When I brought up having to buy a mirror to the receptionist, all men, I was told they would have someone come install it the next day. Didn't happen. I just felt brushed off. And on my checkout day, I happened to catch the manager, Oscar Vargas, and told him of all of this. He just brushed me off and mostly focused on trying to not get me to make a bad review instead of trying to make it right. I really wanted to have faith in him, I did, but that didn't sit right with me. He didn't reimburse me for having to buy a mirror, he didn't really do anything. They didn't even refund me my deposit for the room. And I think that's just not ok. Yall need to be retrained on how to run this hotel successfully, it's just disappointing. I even went on the website to see if they even put on there that they're renovating and they didn't do that.

Take my review with a grain of salt, I am upset, but I did take the time to make note of all this during my stay.

I am currently undergoing several medical procedures at Cedar-Siani and needed to find a hotel that I could stay at that was nearby. I was so fortunate to find the Elan Hotel. The accommodations they have provided have been excellent. All of the staff from housekeeping to the front desk have been extremely helpful in taking care of whatever we have needed. I give this hotel 5 stars. I would like to acknowledge the following employees as 5 star employees.
Blanca and Jose who helped us with all of our housekeeping needs.
Daniel in maintenance who helped us get things squared away when we had to switch rooms.
Juan, Carla and Jessica all front desk personnel that helped us with changing reservations, getting accommodations based upon our needs as well as the best rates they could offer. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Damp and smells like a wet dog The second we opened the door, a plume of musty stench hit me and my partner. It smelled terrible. Ironically, there was a candle (not lit) on the TV stand - so they obviously knew it was an issue. We had been traveling all day and arrived around 9 pm. I went and asked the host up front for another room as the smell was terrible. He said they didn't have any other rooms and gave me matches for the candle. It was late and we had an early flight with a lot of checked luggage - we were trapped. I ran the AC all night hoping it would help with the mugginess. I woke up several times feeling gross and unsanitary. I feel like this was similar to staying at Econo Lodge or Budget Inn, not a $200+/night "boutique" hotel.
