This place is fantastic. The host is friendly and accommodating. Whenever we had a question, Katie the host was always willing to help and answer. The rooms are nicely furnished with a functional bathroom. The beds are clean and comfortable. The bathroom has hot and cold water stocked with amenities such as towels, body wash, and glasses. The location is fantastic, close to many shops and restaurants. I would visit again.

The El Primero Hotel was a delight. The old hotel has been reimagined on the inside while maintaining the integrity of the first and oldest hotel in Chula Vista. Our room had a king bed with a very comfortable mattress and we slept well. At first we were concerned that the street below might be too noisy, but it was not at all and we appreciated the larger room at the front of the hotel. All systems worked well, from the HVAC, the plumbing, water pressure, hot water and small refrigerator in the room. The architecture from the 1930's is eye catching and delightful to see it restored and kept in good condition. It is owned by a family and Karen, one of the owners, was warm and welcoming, very personable. We would definitely stay there again.

My experience was great. KAREN was so sweet and welcoming the entire night I was there . She offered me food and coffee and told me that if I need anything feel free to ask . She told me if I need to come back to stay just reach out to her. Great customer service !

My son stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights. We visited with him and had some interaction with the owner manager "Karen" | As nice as the hotel was, the highlight has to be the owner or manager Karen. I don't think they make them any nicer than she is!!!!! My son was a little sloppy and did not take care of the room. When we talked with her on the phone she said as much. I went to clean it up so she would not have to and found that he had already cleaned it. Karen had spoken with him and we found he was very open with her and later told us how nice she is....We already knew that :)| Anyway this review is about the hotel and not her 🙂 It is located in the central "downtown" part of Chula Vista, it is in a area that is being revitalized. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs within walking distance. The hotel grounds, and the hotel itself are well maintained and clean! It is the oldest hotel in Chula Vista and has that character! The rooms were clean and my son said comfortable. | Like I said earlier the highlight is the staff!!!!! Very very considerate. If I need to stay in this part of Chula Vista I would stay here!!!!

Wonderfully unique experience! I wanted my anniversary to be personal and memorable for my beloved, Karen and her family made that happen for us! This boutique hotel is a gem, the fact that it is family owned makes my heart happy. We started our stay with a mobile massage session in room, followed up by a delicious dinner at Lime in the Coconut! The next morning after having coffee and tea (provided by our awesome hosts) we walked down to Farm to Table for brunch! So good! A perfect little getaway, I am returning ASAP and recommending to all of my friends and family! Karen made excellent recommendations for dining, everything was in walking distance!!

Historical family ran hotel, very clean and well appointed. Hotel is located in a nice a area of Chula Vista-really close to restaurants. |We were treated like family -very much enjoyed our stay and no doubt we’ll return for another stay when visiting San Diego.

1930s restored hotel. Absolutely fabulous. The owner is fabulous. Rooms clean. Nice court yard. But Karen, the owner is the icing on the cake. Highly recommended to stay here. Great location. QUIET. Clean and great prices. This is our go to when in Diego.

Super friendly front staff. Hotel itself is quite nice for a historic building with lots of nice touches to show the history. Definitely a great experience overall to stay here. Just keep in mind that it is a very old building which means the walls are paper thin, you can hear everything going on in rooms around you so they can hear you too.
