El Capitan is organized, professional perfection. The entire staff is top notch, always smiling. The lodge itself is beautiful and immaculate, set in the amazing beauty of Prince of Wales Island. A professional Chef serves delicious meals. Our Captain Justin was beyond patient and we all caught our limit. Go if you get the opportunity. I guarantee you will want to go back.

Absolutely a 5 star destination. Amazing views, amazing lodging, amazing staff, friendly owners. They truly cater to you needs and give an amazing experience. I got sea sick the first day and had a small incident. They were concerned, understanding and accommodated me. While I missed the following days of fishing, I was able to enjoy the view, walk the grounds, enjoy the lodging and eat some great food. If you enjoy fishing, you 100% owe it to yourself to try El Capitan Lodge!

I first came to this lodge, 22 years ago. In the subsequent decades, I have never found another that treated me so well. Top to bottom: best of class.
Location, accomodations, food, ambience, vessels, equipment, fishing, Captains, staff, and overall experience... the best.
"El Capitan" is the Gold Standard, of what Alaskan fishing lodges should all strive to be.

Back from my 2nd trip to El Capitan and I already want to go back! Indescribable experience. Owners Scott and Nani are the nicest people and the staff take care of every little detail to make sure you have the best experience. Our boat captain, Brice, is also the BEST! Dream vacation!

Our experience at El Capitan Lodge was memorable from the time we landed from our floatplane to the time we left. The management, headed by Nani, were friendly and accommodating. I was recovering from throat surgery, 4 weeks post-op, and was on a pureed diet. They pureed my food for every meal...even the lunch that was on board our fishing boat. And, we caught tons of fish. We hit the limit every day for halibut. Caught a few king salmon (it wasn't really the season for Kings), a lot of silver (coho) salmon, and a lot of rock fish. They processed, freezed, and boxed up our fish to take home. The boat captains were very helpful and know where to go for fishing. The lodge's accommodations were up-to-date rustic log cabins which were very comfortable. Most of the other fisherman there were repeats from many years of coming here. I would highly recommend El Capitan Lodge to anyone who wants to stay at a nice lodge and catch a lot of fish.

El Capitan is UNREAL. The fishing, captains, lodging, and meals are all World Class, but what takes it completely over-the-top is warm and genuine hospitality from every single person you encounter. The owners are there and very hands-on and it’s so obvious that they hire and train extremely well. Bravo, El Capitan. We can’t wait to return!
