We went in to get a bite to eat at the Green Street Tavern and tried the Tips and Spaetzle. This is in the Chef's Regrets Entrees and it was delicious! The beef tips were tender and juicy and the egg noodles (spaetzle) was cooked to perfection. Next time we are in Galena I want to stay at the hotel and try the other house specialty Chicken Cordon Bleu!

It was such a great two night stay. The food and drinks at all three restaurants were really awesome. Spotless, comfortable rooms and friendly attentive staff in all areas of the hotel. We will definitely go back.

Had lunch in the restaurant (Nachos and Artichoke Dip) both ok, nothing special. Our server was nice (Keadrow F). The place felt more like a tourist trap than anything else. ||Portions were huge which justified the price. Wine in my opinion was a bit overprice at $12 a glass (Save Blanc), not sure the brand but no $12a glass. ||All in all, ok experience, nothing special except it’s an Historic Hotel.

Beautiful historic hotel right on main street. Greeted right away by the stunning staircase. We had two room, one facing the courtyard, which seemed larger then the other room facing main street. free parking in ramp. Sunday breakfast brunch buffet was excellent and reasonably priced. We had wonderful steak dinner in the basement restaurant on site- steak tender and perfectly cooked! Overall enjoyed a 3 day weekend at this hotel.

My daughter and I bought NYE tickets at The DESOTO House. Absolutely a joke. DO NOT GO HERE. Honestly, I beg you to avoid this place. $50 per ticket to sit in a hallway alone, but all dressed up hoping to have a nice night with a live performance. We arrived on time excited and dressed up for a fantastic NYE, but we were stuck in a hallway outside of the office…no where near the entertainment and isolated from humans. The entertainment is a guy and his home karaoke machine. I’ve tried calling and emailing several times for a refund, but not a single person has responded. This place is a scam. I can send pictures if you PM me of our seats. |DESOTO is a SCAM, awful customer service.

Great historical hotel.. Rooms are very dated, but it's to be expected considering the hotel is all about history. All the bars and restaurants in the hotel have amazing food and drink... the staff is very attentive and helpful. We had an absolutely wonderful weekend in Galena. Cannot wait to come back !

We stayed at the DeSoto House Hotel on Main Street, perfectly located within walking distance of everything and offering convenient free parking in their garage. The hotel features an antique, vintage style reminiscent of the 1800s, with rooms named after that era. The staff was friendly, professional, and accommodating.

We enjoyed a fantastic brunch in the hotel’s charming courtyard before checking out. The selection was impressive, with everything from oatmeal and fresh fruit to made-to-order omelets and steak. Our waiter was attentive and courteous.

Although we didn’t try the on-site restaurant, Tracy at the front desk was incredibly helpful, providing great recommendations. The hotel’s prime location in the heart of Galena allowed us to easily explore the local shops, bakeries, restaurants, and antique stores. A wonderful experience overall!

The staff was incredibly helpful: Big John & Delores at the desk, and housekeeper Patrona. The room was clean and just as you'd expect from an almost 170 year old hotel. We enjoyed a dinner with great service, and a server whose name I didn't remember. It's great to walk out the front door and walk past and visit the many shops on Main Street. Our room had a TV and private bath.
