I took my 2 son's on their first Alaska trip. We were joined by my brother in law and his son and son in law. The 6 of us had an amazing experience with Jim and his wife Marie. Cabins were spotless and comfortable. The restrooms and showers are in the lodge and spotless as well. Food was served family style and was excellent!|Our only disappointment was the Silver salmon run never materialized. BUT, we caught many pinks. The guides are top notch. A true " family " atmosphere. |I highly recommend the Deska Landing Lodge and look forward to returning in the near future. |Bruce Schlaich

Family friendly fishing and hunting guide services. The accommodations were very comfortable and the food was home style and excellent. This is a family owned and run business that takes pride in making our experience memorable. Jim answered all our questions beforehand so that we were properly prepared for the experience. Marie cooked up delicious and plentiful meals. I highly recommend this outfit if you are looking for a good experience without “roughing it”. We plan to return.

Four of us spent the week in June at Deshka. It was the first time to Alaska for all four of us and two of the group were "novice" fishermen. I should note that one of the "novices" caught the first fish, the biggest fish, and the only salmon. ||The accommodations at Deshka are top notch. Multiple individual cabins that are newly updated and very clean. Each cabin has a refrigerator. The main lodge is a short walk away from the cabins and has two full baths and a half bath. The full baths are fully stocked with bodywash and shampoo and multiple clean towels are available each day. This is also where we played cards each night, along with a few cold beers. ||This is also where breakfast and dinner are served. We were well fed with excellent food each day, including some freshly caught fish and moose burgers. Always a great pastry with breakfast and dessert with dinner. Multiple options are set out after breakfast to pack lunch for the day out on the water. Snacks and multiple soft-drink options and water are always available. ||The lodge is owned and managed by the husband and wife team of Jim and Maria. I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful Maria was. Maria does all of the cooking and the food was excellent. On this trip, the couple's nephew was also one of our guides. ||I have done several fly-in and drive-in trips in Canada. The lodge is located about 90 minutes north of Anchorage. While remote by city standards, as is the case with most drive in trips, it is by no means secluded. It was plenty quiet and peaceful, but there were other people around and you could buzz into Willow if you needed to grab something. There are also multiple day trip options nearby, including a beautiful hiking area just east of the lodge. On many occasions, you will have a great view of Denali. ||Of late, the King (also known as Chinook) Salmon fishing across all of Alaska has been challenged, with a significant drop in their population due to multiple factors. Unfortunately, while we were there, King season was closed to sport fishing. Jim tried hard to put us on other fish and we did well with Rainbow trout and had an especially productive day fishing for Pike at a nearby lake where Jim flew us in on his float plane. Several of the Pike we caught were 30 inches or more. He also took us down to the Russian River to go for Red/Sockeye salmon as Sockeye do not run on the Deshka. Unfortunately, it was a slow day on the Russian for everyone, not just our group, and we didn't catch anything. We also made a trip up to a lake to go for grayling, but even in late June, it was still frozen and not fishable. Throughout the trip, Jim and his nephew were patient. They had both spin and fly rods and I absolutely improved my fly fishing skills while I was there. ||There are trade-offs in choosing a remote vs. drive-in trip, and if you are looking for a drive-in, this is a great experience. Jim worked hard to put us on fish. However, be sure you do your research on the different salmon runs and be aware that at least lately, the king run has been shut down by the state several times over the last few years. I would definitely return later in the summer when the Silvers and other species run. We were also there during the time of year when the sun never sets, which was a unique experience in and of itself, but it would also be great to see the night sky, which would be another reason to go during the Silver run.

Deshka Landing Charters & Lodge delivered big time! Jim and Maria (Rhe) immediately make you feel like you are part of their family. Stunning scenery, expert guides (so funny), and delicious food - made every moment unforgettable. Can't wait to go back!

Everyone at Deshka Landing Charters and Lodge is truly amazing. They have a fantastic team that works hard and works well together. Everyone at the lodge is kind and polite. They are there to make sure your visit is unforgettable. The cabins and lodge are clean and comfortable. Dinner is served family style, and every meal they prepared was delicious. I don't think we could have picked a better place to experience Alaska. Thank you to Jim, Maria, Tasha, Bret, Steve and Caleb. We had an wonderful week with you all.

Jim and Maria are vey welcoming. The cabins are clean and comfortable. The entire staff is super friendly and helpful. Caleb, Bret and Steve are awesome fishing guides. Day or night, they are ready to fish when the customer is ready to go. Maria and Tasha prepared every meal family style. These amazing ladies even made me a birthday cake. They are very accommodating to everyone's schedule. If you leave hungry, it is your own fault. Maria helped us plan our activities for week. Jim is a great pilot and flew us up thru the Denali Mountain Range. This was my first time to Alaska, and I can honestly say that Jim and Maria made it a great experience. Cannot wait for my next visit.

What a perfect and adorable family experience! The lodge is Very welcoming, the food was family style and excellent. Very knowledgeable fishing guides. Maria helped us plan all of our activities ❤️ The bedding was so cozy I couldn’t wait to sleep after a very active day!
