It was a great location. Across the street was a beach and close by Mendocino and Fort Bragg. The room was nice( we stayed in the Victorian) and the bathroom has been redone with a new beautiful huge tub. Only downsize is the water heater isn't big enough to fill it so you need to fill it half way and then wait a little to finish filling it. The grounds were gorgeous and everything was very clean. This is an older house but is kept up very nicely. We enjoyed the marble fireplace but was not able to use the TV because the app kept buffering. I would definitely stay here again. It is a great value.

Had to spend the night on really short notice, they were super friendly and extremely understanding of my situation. Very transparent and thoughtful. I felt safe at this location with their door locking mechanisms; room was clean and had a nice vintage feel to it. Super cozy night in and had a lovely quiet morning the next day. Also ~5 minute drive away from a delicious breakfast spot in Mendocino called GoodLife Cafe and Bakery. Overall a super cool experience, highly recommend!

I’ve stayed here a bunch of times, love this place! I always had a nice time before, but I do feel like the new owners have added cute homie touches like small bottles of wine in each room, etc. They are super easy to get ahold of and they’re really accommodating, even upgraded my room for free when they realized I was bringing a service dog. I wish the whole place was dog friendly like before, but I really just love this property so much and I think they do have a dog friendly place nearby if I recall correctly. Either way, I’ll be back again for sure!

An absolute sanctuary of tranquility and charm. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in warmth—both from the gracious hosts and the meticulously restored 19th-century home. Each room told a story, with antique furnishings and lovingly preserved details that transported us back in time. The fireplace was so comforting!!

Upon arriving on new year's eve (at 4pm) for a two night stay, our door code, which they had provided to us (via email) to access our room, did not work. There was no one on the property, so we promptly called the emergency/after hours number to find out what was going on. No one answered, and the voicemail box was full. We tried a dozen times - to no avail. As we were sitting outside the door, unable to get in, another couple arrived and had a reservation for the same room (their code, incidentally, didn't work either). We went to leave -- only to find more drama. Two other people were upset because smoke had billowed into their room (seemingly from a fireplace in another room). They were unable to stay in their room, and ended up sleeping in their car overnight. More disturbingly, their smoke detector had not worked. When we finally were able to speak with someone in management the next day, they would only refund us for the night we couldn't enter the room (in spite of the costs we had to incur to find somewhere to stay at the last minute on NYE). We will NOT being staying here again. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

Edit (in response to message, below): We didn't receive the response from management until the next day. This is because we had to drive into town to even call the after hours line since there's no phone reception at the inn (admittedly, this part isn't the inn's fault). When we were unable to reach anyone, we attempted to return to the inn to see if we could find someone who worked there (we did not). Hence why we didn't receive the message from the inn until the following day. In the end, someone had changed our reservation to a different room, but failed to notify us (hence why our code didn't work).

We then had to incur the additional cost of having to find somewhere else to stay at the very last minute on new years eve - all while ruining our night because we couldn't enjoy what we were doing since we had nowhere to stay and had to figure something else out. Additionally, the second night (once we were finally in our room), we didn't feel secure leaving our room with our things inside since we didn't feel we could reach someone who worked there if we couldn't get in - on top of feeling very uneasy about the fire/smoke detector issue the other guests had the previous night. In light of this, it's very disappointing that management wasn't willing to refund the cost of our entire two night stay.

These rooms are literally so aesthetically pleasing. Peaceful, comfy, and easy to find! Cute little room with complementary teas! Driving down hwy 1 is always a little sketchy but it’s worth the gorgeous views. Dog friendly..

Quaint, lovely cottage just a few minutes away from the ocean and a 7 minute drive from downtown Mendocino. Our room had great amenities and a full kitchen. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend for a getaway up north.

My family of 3 just returned from our 2 nights stay at the Quail Cottage over Labor Day weekend|The cottage is away from the main building and has 1 queen bed plus 1 twin bed (in its own room). The room is perfect for a small family.|It has a fridge, a stove and a variety of kitchen equipment. Also an outdoor grill|We cooked one night for dinner and had everything we need to grill local sable fish, produce and enjoyed some local wine. Everything is dated, but sufficient. We enjoyed the rustic aspect of things. ||During our stay, we were visited by 3 deer, some rabbits and wild quails ||Mendocino is about 8mins away and there is a lovely beach around 4mins drive away.|No, the path is unfortunately not safe to walk. Our 3yo daughter really liked this rental property and is already asking us when we are going back to the "little cottage". Thank you for hosting us.||
