Let me start by saying my family were repeat customers, til now.|My family went there for a fishing trip getaway for the men. When they got there, Ken wanted to "settle up" the payment right away, which he had never done before, we soon found out that the water was too low to do any fishing. Ken knew we were bringing our boat to go fishing but did not bother to mention that the water was 3' down so my boat was going under the dock. Our friend was handicapped so it was very hard for him to get in and out of the boat. I called Ken after our ride home and told him about the problems we had and mentioned to him that I had told him I was bringing a boat and asked why he didn't tell me the water was too low and he told me I should have googled it myself. I asked if he would credit some of the money back and he was very rude about saying no. I will never go back to this place again, nor recommend it.

Really had fun fishing on the lake, caught more blue gill, bass and perch than we could eat. Ken and Audrey were great hosts with very reasonable prices. I highly suggest staying here.

We've been coming to this resort for 25+ years. Every year, Ken and Audrey (the owners) have made improvements that make it a little more comfortable. Cabins are super clean, beds are super comfortable, kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook a great meal. (just bring your own food). Bedding is luxurious! (bring your own towels). The location is gorgeous. True wilderness. Great fishing for walleye, crappie, smallmouth bass, perch, northern pike, panfish and musky. Ken and Audrey are very nice-they treat you like family. And they have great senses of humor. :). If you want a quiet place to just sit on the deck and relax or if you want a place where you can spend hours fishing and exploring, this is the place for you. The prices are very reasonable also.

After 36 years of camping and fishing on the Flambeau Flowage, my buddy and I decided to try a resort. We were well rewarded at the Cry of the Loon. Quiet, very nice clean cabin with a complete kitchen, nice shower, Cable TV, DVD player, nice gas fireplace, A/C and comfortable furniture. Even the mattresses were comfortable. For boaters, very nice docking and for fishermen, an excellent cleaning station. Beautiful view. We reserved for next year before we left. I didn't want to write this review for fear of not being able to get in there again but they deserve it.

The cabins are locate directly on Lake Bastine which is on the beautiful Turtle Flambeau Flowage. The cabins are modern with all the comforts of home, Free WiFi, A/C, Full kitchen, and come with 2 or 3 bedrooms. There are pontoon boats and kayaks for rent. The Resort has four cabins so there's never a large crowd. Perfect for hiking, fishing, hunting, ATV's. In summer the lake is great for swimming. Your hosts Ken and Audrey are great and will help you out as much as they can to make your stay as best as possible. The sunsets from the water or the beach are breath taking. You can sit outside your cabin and watch eagles soar overhead. Take out a boat to fish the productive waters of the Flowage or just observe the nature of Northern Wisconsin. Been here many times and it just keeps getting better. Wouldn't stay anywhere else

Cry of the Loon Resort was a wonderful place to stay. ||My husband and I decided to visit from Canada, bringing our own boat to check out the fishing.||We where pleased with our cabin. It’s obvious that they are well cared for and clean. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking, and the beautiful gas fireplace was very welcoming after a cool day on the water.||Turtle Flambeau Flowage was beautiful! We caught 8 different species of fish including walleye, perch, crappie, pike, musky, small mouth bass, blue gill and rock bass. We caught fish everyday which was a plus. Be advised though, this Flowage was previously a smaller lake, being flooded by a dam. As a result, there are a number of rocks and logs that are both slightly above and below the surface creating a number of hazards. Thankfully we didn’t do any damage to the boat as we were careful. Having a detailed map on your fish finder is a must!||Over all, we were quite pleased with our stay. We would definitely come back if the opportunity presented itself.||Thanks Ken and Audrey for the great experience!

We visited Cry of the Loon for a 5-day getaway and fishing vacation in mid-September. It was my first time and I was delighted with the very nice construction of the cabins, cleanliness and the quality of kitchen gear, tv, dvd player and wifi. The wifi connection was off and on at times, but better than most places we've been in rural Wisconsin. The owners, Ken and Audrey, could have been nicer and take very good care of both their clients and 4 cabins. We had a full water view from the cabins, lovely setting. We rented a boat and motor (9.7 HP) but also hired a fishing guide for a day and came home with lots of frozen filets to share with our friends. And the loons did indeed cry their mournful cry every evening. We look forward to a return trip next year.||Note the official address is Butternut, WI but they are just a few miles outside of Mercer and Mercer has the stores you need for bait, groceries, misc. We thought the Cry is an excellent value for the price.

Great cabins on a beautiful flowage. The cabins are very clean and well appointed. The cabin we stayed in had a nice deck overlooking the water. Cell service is spotty, but the cabins have WiFi if needed. The flowage holds good fishing. And Cry of the Loon has a wonderful cleaning house to clean your catch. They have a private boat launch on-site. And gas and bait can be purchased on the water right around the corner in Donners Bay. The owners rent pontoons, kayaks, and other water craft. Perfect spot for a family tradition or for a fish camp outing.
