The room was clean, bed was king size and so comfortable. I liked that you could watch Netflix using your own account. I enjoyed the kuerig coffee in the room. Front desk agent who booked my reservation was super nice and accommodating and let me know they have room service and happy hour at the bar from 4 to 6pm. My checkout was smooth and easy, no issues. Kudos to the team that run Crowne Plaza Cabana! Thank you!

Finding a quality location to stay in the area for a reasonable price is difficult, however, the Crowne Plaza was an excellent choice. The hotel staff attentive, respectful and addressed me by name. The room was lovely and the bed quite comfortable. My room was close to the elevator and next to the area that held the ice machine to which I heard absolutely no hall or equipment noise - meaning the rooms are very well insulated; which is nice being a Road Warrior for over 20 years was a common experience. Highly recommended if you would like comfort and quiet.

Enjoyed our stay here. Priced very competitively and felt like really good value for the money. Nice room, nice overall, like a swank 70's hotel that got sort of updated. Not rundown or anything, just felt a little throwback sometimes, but mostly in a fun way, not a bad way.

I don’t usually post hotel reviews because most hotels are just fine for me on work travel. This hotel is the exception. For an expensive 4 star hotel in Palo Alto, I had moderately high expectations. I stayed in room 101 and was not expecting a motel style stay. The finishings were extremely dated, dim room lighting, and the bathroom plumbing wouldn’t drain. The bed was reasonably comfortable and the one time room service I ordered for a late night dinner was good which is the reason for 3 stars instead of a lower rating. For the price point, you can do better in the area.

My wife unexpectedly had to be admitted to Stanford Hospital after a doctors appointment. We had made plans to stay the night anyway due to the distance we were driving, and showed up to this hotel. We were lucky to have Ron greet us at the front desk. He was friendly and welcoming. He checked for our reservation and could not find one. I checked my email and realized I had booked at the Crowne Plaza across the Bay, not in Palo Alto. Because the reservation was under my wife's name, and she was being admitted to the hospital, I asked Ron if he would call the other hotel and vouch for us that my wife (who was with me) and I were at his hotel, and advise them that she was going to be admitted and I would be checking in without her. Ron did just that and I was able to check in later that night with no issues. He also mentioned that the Palo Alto hotel offers discounts for those going to Stanford Hospital and suggested I check on that. I did just that saving me some cash. Fast Forward a few days later and once again, Ron was was working at the front desk. He remembered me, by name, asked how my wife was doing, and showed genuine care and concern. He was extremely accommodating, and because I was checking in so late and had spent Valentines Day and my birthday at the hospital, gave me an upgraded room! I cannot say enough about Ron and how wonderful he was. The room was gorgeous, I just wish my wife was there to share it with. Thank you Ron. As I mentioned to him, I have travelled extensively, and I have never received such great customer service as I did with Ron. Give this guy a bonus!

The rooms outside the main building, on the wings, are absolutely freezing at night (I was there in Jan), even with blasting the heat, because they are exposed to an outside hallway rather than being inside the hotel building. Was given a room on the first floor, which I did not feel comfortable with given the outside exposure of that wing, but the person at check-in was so difficult that I did not want to ask her for a new room. (I did get a new room in the main building the next day, and that staff person was very nice about it.) Rooms were outdated. Hard to find an outlet I could use with my plug because of the configuration. Alarm clocks still had iPod chargers on top instead of USBs -- how expensive are new alarm clocks, really? Staff member at check-in was officious and difficult. My CEO asked for a new room immediately rather than wait until the next day, like I did, and she gave him a very hard time about it. Numerous other small missteps by staff (e.g. only one hand towel in the room, missing breakfast item, long line at check-out).

On the positive side, the staff member who gave me a new room on the second day was friendly, and the wait staff at dinner were extremely good. But it was not enough to salvage a terrible stay. Would never stay here again.

This establishment is old and not run well. Neeruta the manager at front desk is very rude. Most of the stuff in this hotel doesn’t work. We stayed at the best room this hotel has to offer, still the room had shabby torn out curtains. There was dust and spider webs growing on the stuff. This place has eight floors and two old elevators. One was even out of order during the entire stay. We had to wait eternity to get anywhere. The phone in our room didn’t work. The breakfast was awful and same everyday. The restaurant staff was also rude. WiFi often didn’t work. One morning we were woken up to a loud fire alarm. The cherry on top was one day we woke up and went to use restroom and there was no water. We weren’t given a notice. We came down to talk to the front desk and Neeruta claiming to be the manager of the property was extremely rude. She said we were lying that we were not given a notice, she never apologized and went on to insult us. she said she would cancel our stay. She even argued with us that room was not 300$ plus, which it was. Neeruta has no etiquettes, she shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near hospitality industry. We ended up canceling our stay and found another hotel. We will never stay at any of IHG hotels. We don’t recommend this place at all. It’s not worth to pay for subpar place and service and spoil the mood.

If you're coming to visit Stanford University, this hotel is a reasonable choice. It's less expensive than competitive full-service hotels in the area, but a little nicer than some of the somewhat rundown "motels" that I've stayed at in the past. Note that the "poolside cabana" room is more like a motel room in that its entry door faces an exterior walkway and its rear door faces the pool. This type of room is very large (which is why we chose it over a room in the main building). The one drawback - the heat only heats the bedroom and not the bathroom, so the bathroom can remain quite chilly on a cold day.
The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean. There was plenty of parking available.
I would recommend this hotel for a reasonably priced stay in the Stanford area. It's not luxurious, but it's well-maintained.
