Don’t believe Google. The Crickethead Inn Bed and Breakfast is NOT permanently closed, and don’t bother using Google maps to find it. Use your noggin and read the signs as you drive down the road to this beautiful inn with the fabulous hosts Mike and Wayan. Not only is the inn right on the doorstep of the Saguaro National Park, it is a much better way to experience the gorgeous landscape and animal life of the Saguaro than the park itself and the Saguaro Desert Museum. We went to both, and they were fine, but the Inn was just better. After an amazing breakfast made by your hosts, just step outside. Sunrise and sunsets are yours to experience in near perfect silence without crowds or hype. Listen to the birds, and bring your binoculars. Enjoy the porch and garden. Curl up in a blanket and wait for the fox or javelinas who may visit. The Inn is a lovely, quirky, perfect gem.

We loved our stay at Crickethead Inn! The owners are incredibly knowledgeable and hospitable. We got to see Sonoran Desert wildlife up close. Our room was quiet and comfortable, with lovely Indonesian art adorning the space. The breakfasts were outstanding; I'll certainly never forget the amazing homemade salsa. We really enjoyed wandering around the property and walking up the wash to a nearby rock outcropping. This is a great place for folks who are traveling to Arizona to get a real desert experience and have amazing wildlife encounters! We will surely return to see Mike and Wayan again.

I can't speak highly enough about the Crickethead Inn.

The "low" reviews are clearly from people who didn't do their research and didn't know what they were getting into.

I needed: remote, quiet, and simple.

Crickethead was exactly what I needed.

Mr. Lord and his wife were incredibly accommodating. The food was unique and tasty, and the atmosphere just the right amount of rustic and comfortable.

I used the Crickethead as a base to go on day trips and get some work done on a dissertation. I think, given another week, I could have had most of the paper done!

If you are in the Tucson area and need to get away from the world for a bit, you need to try the Crickethead Inn. You won't be disappointed.

Last week, we had an absolutely horrible experience at the Crickethead Inn and would never go back, even if we were allowed. My 77 year old wife suffers from pulmonary fibrosis and uses a concentrator for supplemental oxygen. Notwithstanding, we lead an active life and had booked and prepaid a 7 day stay as part of our 3 week plus road and sightseeing trip (including a four hour tour of the Queen Mary). We were fully aware of the rural nature of the Inn and comfortably situated ourselves when we arrived. However, the next morning at breakfast, Michael Blaine, one of the two owners, stated that their facility was not appropriate for my wife and that we had to immediately leave. He claimed that we should have known the inn was unsuitable, despite nothing in their literature to that effect. He claimed without proof it was an “insurance issue” and was totally unsympathetic to discussing anything. He gave us 90 minutes to pack and leave with nowhere to go. My wife was devastated and is still emotionally distraught about being evicted for no reason other than a cannula in her nose. We ultimately found other accommodations in the area, but at a far higher rate as it is spring break. The action of the owners was cruel, capricious and very likely illegal under both the ADA and the AzDA. We will be considering our legal options….

Cricket head Inn is a lovely and quirky place to stay. We stayed for six nights. We had a lovely, comfortable room. There is a nice patio area with a great view. Breakfasts are excellent (different every morning), thanks to Wayan’s great cooking. Other guests were very interesting, and we had some great conversations. We learned a lot about the area from Mike, a native Arizonan. Mike and Wayan have beautiful art and crafts from Bali for sale. We bought a small wood carved statue we really love. You couldn’t ask for better hosts than Mike and Wayan. The location can’t be beat, right in the beautiful desert on the border of Saquaro National Park. The Inn is reached by a dirt road which might put some people off, but is very doable. This is not for someone who wants a fancy place, but it is full of comfort, character, great conversation, and all around good vibes. Lots of return guests here, and we’ll be one of them. Thank you, Michael and Wayan!

Friendly inn keepers. Unique property that back right up to Saguaro National Park. Good hot breakfast. Loads of local intelligence from a lifelong Tucson native. Access in a small sedan maybe be dicey as the road back is primitive for about 3/4 of a mile. I nearly high centered my rental mini van my first drive up the lane but compensated in following trips with wheel placement. Saw 2 wild javalina and a bunch of different birds including a neat quail. Comfortable bed, clean rooms, amazing night sky in the middle of the desert, amazing sunset on the red rocks. Not a Marriott but you knew that up front.

Crickethead is a unique experience. Isolated, with the Saguaro National Park right off the veranda. Incomparable hosts, Mike and Wayan provide a delicious breakfast, just the right amount of talk and tales, and an informal, relaxed environment. Located down a dirt road, this is not a "resort," but a special casual place with Indonesian harmonies right in America's southwest. We saw javalinas out the back door the moment we arrived.
