My husband was moved here for rehab. He also suffers from Parkinson’s . While the campus is pleasant, it is hugely understaffed. They often bring what they call “agency” nurses who are untrained, unfamiliar and unsupervised. These are not regular or permanent staff and often have no interest or knowledge of the patient. They do not admin medicine correctly or on time. Correctly administer medicine and on time is particularly important for Parkinson’s patients. The night shifts is particularly staffed by agency nurses or tech nurses. If a question or concern, there is no supervisor to complain. A nurse called Irene was late giving my husband’s medicine. After reminding her several times she left the shift without giving medicine to my husband. She was chatting in the office completely ignoring my request and her responsibility. My husband had to wait and suffer “off effects of not receiving his Parkinson’s for hours before get his vital medicine. Worse I found some of the medicine dose that she was suppose to give earlier. Spread on the floor. A grossly incompetent and irresponsible nurse.
This place should invest more on permanent staff and hire night shift and after hour supervisor.
Having mistreated by a few “agency” nurses I have to acknowledge the good care my husband received by a few permanent nurses and nurse techs among them Mark, Josefina, Lisa and Juan.

My husband’s pants were stolen while he was in the Health Center. I sent a receipt two months ago for the new pants I purchased ….I have called repeatedly asking when I would be reimbursed…no one has helped me.

I'm writing this review based on my direct experience with Covenant Shores (CS) in hopes it may help folks who may be thinking of moving their loved ones here.

First off, the good: the nursing staff is kind and caring. That's a wonderful thing. That's why it's a two star review, rather than one. My mom has Alzheimers, so it was vital that the staff was kind, and that's a credit to them.

Now, the rest. For background, we moved my mom and stepdad into assisted living together. They were there for over a year. My stepdad's physical health was failing, and my mom has Alzheimers. Here is my experience:

- Everything is ala carte. Nothing is provided when moving in. You'll have to supply everything, from the bed to toiletries, all the way down to towels and toilet paper.
- You will not receive any help from staff during move-in.
- The cost for assisted living is around $11,000/person. For that, you'll get staff administering medications, 3 meals/day, and a safe place to sleep.
- My mom left the facility twice in the middle of the night, by herself. Each time staff found her by the lake. I was then called to come down and stay the night in her and my stepdad's room for my mom's safety because they were "short staffed." I slept on the floor of their room to prevent her from leaving.
- My stepdad was in hospice care in their room, and passed away. After he passed, I moved my mom from their 2 bedroom into a 1 bedroom. I received no help with this, and was told everything, down to the shower curtain, needed to be moved, or we'd be charged a cleaning fee. There were medical supplies left behind from my stepdad's care. I had to move those, as well.
- My mom received extremely limited personalized care or programming. She was by herself in her room the majority of the day and night.
- After moving my mom to a new facility nearer to me, Covenant Shores over-billed her account by over $17,000. I noticed it when doing an audit of the bank account that paid the bills. I contacted CS about it. It took me a month of contacting them to get her money back.

This isn't an exhaustive list, just some of the experiences that stood out. Again, the nursing staff are caring. The rest leaves a lot to be desired.

I hope this helps.

We have lived here for a year and highly recommend it. From the sales force to the staff who refurbished our apartment to the maintenance workers to the people you meet, it exceeded all our expectations. The staff is warm and very helpful.

My grandparents stayed here, and it worked out pretty well for them.

Pros: Great views, good price, good service

Cons: Food gets boring after a while, and not as many activities to do

If thinking of staying here, RUN, don't walk away but RUN. They advertise that you can stay until you pass away. This is NOT true.
