Halibut Cove is well worth a visit, and this is definitely the place to stay. I stayed at the main lodge - a beautiful building with beautiful rooms, all meticulously crafted by hand. Tammy and Carl are lovely, accommodating and incredibly kind. They will make you feel right at home. As locals, they'll have plenty of suggestions for hikes, restaurants and any other outings in the area. They also run a water taxi, so you can arrange for transportation to trailheads etc. The cabins off of the main lodge are beautiful as well, and provide a more laid-back, outdoor experience. This place defined my experience in Alaska and felt like a second home... I have so much love for this place and these people! Thank you Tammy and Carl!

If you're looking for that one special moment in Alaska this is it. You will forever remember your experience, and count the days for your return. I know I do. The Saltry has amazing food and drink with a gorgeous view. The art galleries tell a story of life here and are well priced for a treasure to bring home. AND.... Tammy and Carl, as well as their family and crew are some of the nicest, most helpful, and entertaining people I have met.. (their neighbors in the cove are pretty fantastic too!!!) Love, Love, LOVE, Halibut Cove!

Our cabin was "back to basics" (outhouse and shower near by) but the accommodations felt extraordinary - laid back peace and quiet. And Carl and Tammy were fantastic helping us organize a kayak trip and a hike to a glacial lake. They even took care of making reservations at the Saltry restaurant for the days we were there.

Halibut cove is a very special location and Carl , Tami and their other staff were helpful and professional in getting us to the location, arranging for kayaks and dinner. The little cabin was rustic but charming. The view unbeatable and the day perfect.
