The property is located in an industrial area of Carlsbad, surrounded by Palomar Airport Road and the Carlsbad airport. Even rooms back to Palomar Airport Road and odd rooms back to the parking lot, overlooking the airport. It appears there was a remodel done in the last few years, however, it overlooked some serious details. ||The window in my room (335) was seriously old and in need of replacement. There are no screens on the window, and they are locked so they only open about 2 inches. The bathroom fan sounded like a military helicopter taking off, so I was not able to use it. I was not a fan of the black and dark gray color scheme used in the design. It gave the room a dark and depressing feel. Additionally, some soundproofing is seriously needed here – as I could hear the person snoring in the room next to me.||The pluses are the staff. They were all great – very friendly and accommodating. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and well kept. I did not have a chance to use the pool or the fitness room. Unfortunately, there is no hot tub at this property. Also, unfortunately, they charge $15 a night to park. I only stayed one night, but I can say that for the prices they charge the rooms should be better.

This a nice and quiet hotel. Very clean and spacious. I liked the ability to open the window enough to enjoy the fresh air. There is a small fridge (👍) but no microwave (👎) in the room. However, there is a microwave downstairs in the market if you'd like to warm up any leftovers. Service at the front desk is top-notch. Everyone is very helpful and cheerful. I also liked the filtered water bottle filling station, located just outside the fitness center. Unlike most other Marriott bands, the Courtyard brand does not have a complimentary breakfast, which is a real turn-off for me. Even still, I prefer the Marriott brand over any other, and I enjoyed my stay here.

If you have status with Marriott or don’t want to suffer through apathetic service with parking fees for a hotel in a bad location in the middle of an empty industrial park you want to give this Courtyard a big miss and don’t stay here. They don’t inform you in advance that they charge $15 a day for parking and when you call them out on it they say “read the fine print”. They also have reserved parking for Platinum Members (see picture attached) but nothing for Titanium or Ambassador both of which are higher tiers - also with no logical explanation. The way you do small things says a lot about the big things. Given how often I stay at Marriott Hotels this one in particular stands out for poor service and no clue on service recovery - and I have status so I can’t imagine how they treat other guests. Do yourself a favor and book at the Fairfield Inn 2 mins away on Palomar Airport Hwy. The service is great, they waive parking fees, have friendly management and team that are helpful and friendly, and a generous breakfast is included - all at a very similar room rates to the Courtyard which has no breakfast included. The rooms at Fairfield are also cleaner and better maintained - my room at Courtyard had an odd smell and my toilet flusher was in disrepair. I rarely write reviews but I think people need to know that rather than accept responsibility for the parking situation the Courtyard Team preferred to have me move even though I was going to extend my stay and the manager didn’t seem to care at all even after Marriott Customer service called them. Someone needs to train their management team on what the legendary service ethos of Marriott truly is because these guys didn’t get the memo. Won’t be returning and spoke to Marriott and they were kind enough to credit me points because even after customer service called the hotel a second time on my behalf the manager refused to be helpful which seems like a common theme in their online reviews. Marriott is the best hotel company in the world and thats why I am so loyal and stay hundreds of nights every year - someone from corporate needs to look into this property and straighten things out. Looks like I’m not alone with multiple reviews complaining about the management. You can even read the hotel’s responses to the other 1 Star reviews with complaints and see how they try to paint them as isolated incidents - laughable. Time to figure out why guests aren’t a priority with the management at this location.

This hotel has the worst employees I’ve ever encountered. Total rip off. Breakfast is disgusting and overpriced. They charged me $37 when they told me it would be comped on my birthday at that!!! BEWARE- SCAM- they advertise breakfast then screw you over. Now I have to dispute with my credit card. And I’m a Marriott bonvoy member. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Had a reservation for 1 night, son was hospitalized , had to cancel; booking.com and the management at Marriott did nothing to help us, nothing except for ping pong and excuses for 3 weeks of multiple emails and phone calls, what a joke, I am rewards member for 25 years, first cancelation ever .....a simple problem for management to fix, not even the general manager would help
vacancy rate that night was 50%

Excellent property! The warm, modern design of the building makes you feel comfortable right away. The plants around the perimeter of the building are such a nice touch. The lobby was nice and there’s a bar where you can also get your breakfast and coffee in the morning.

It was nice to see reserved parking for platinum members. When you spend so many nights at hotels, it’s little extras like reserved parking that make your day.

The rooms are spacious, comfortable and laid out nicely. You’ll find plenty of outlets, A nice tv where you can sign into Netflix, Prime and a few other streaming services. The WiFi was strong and was perfect for the teams and zoom meetings I had during the day.

The best part of this stay for me was the outstanding service. I had screwed up my reservation date and days and the staff was quick to help me get settled and to get everything fixed. Sydney was excellent about helping me out and making sure my mistake didn’t ruin my time here. She is a great asset to the Marriott family.

I highly recommend this location. It’s such a nice place to stay, conveniently located and the staff is wonderful.

Items stolen from hotel room while we were gone. According to the GM the only one who had access to our room was housekeeping. Either way the items were stolen. GM was not willing to reimburse for the items stolen after he conducted after an internal "investigation". GM was slow to respond to our attempts to get this resolved. And obviously failed to make it right. Police report filed and escalated to Marriott to make a case. A lot of frustration and time spent on this. No one wants to feel violated like this.
