Country Road House Bed and Breakfast - Clendenin, West Virginia

The rooms have antique furniture, the region is gorgeous, and there's TONS to do right from the backyard. I stopped here for a short visit but I would love to come back for a longer stay, because this is the perfect place to stay for a West Virginia vacation. Eat a hearty breakfast at the B&B, adventure all day, and come back to rest in a beautiful, cozy, vibes-filled room.

My family of 5 stayed here for a couple of days as we toured some of the local cryptid legends. Angela even shared with us about one of the first Mothman reports was in Cledindin Cemetery. We were less than an hour from downtown Charleston and then about an hour to Sutton to see Flatwood and Bigfoot Museums.

The breakfast that Angela cooks are heavenly. Enough to keep you energized for the day. My kids loved opening the chicken coop every morning as well.

While we didn't spend a lot of time at the house during the day, we did get a chance to start gaze one night and play a few games of uno. There was plenty of room unlike a crowded hotel would of been. Thank you Angela and John for your part of the memories my family will carry from this vacation.

The room was quaint and cozy. The property was beautiful. Wonderful family and the breakfast was magnificent. Great place to disconnect and relax; we loved it.

There was beautiful scenery driving up to the property. Angela met us upon arrival and gave us a big warm welcome. She showed us around the property and introduced us to some of the animals! We got to see and pet the goats, ducks and chickens. Angela recommended some nature trails both on the property and nearby in town.||The little outhouse was clean and did not smell. ||Shortly after arriving and checking in we headed over to the Elk River Trail where we went for a hike and saw some deer. It was absolutely beautiful. Afterwards we went into town and grabbed a bite to eat at Paddler's Bar and Grill which had really good pub style food.||When we got back to the b&b Angela and John started a fire for us during which time we got to chat with them. They were so nice and personable, really made the stay enjoyable. Once it got dark, it was very quiet and relaxing. We sat listening to the sound of the fire and watched the stars and fireflies. We didn't have any issues with mosquitos and didn't need bug repellent. ||The barn was very cute, the string lighting at night was nice touch. There were two windows with no glass or screens which had good airflow into the barn. There were a few chairs and a coffee table, as well as a few outlets to charge your devices. Angela had even set out some bottles of water for us. The beds had netting around them although we didn't find bugs to be an issue. The beds themselves were comfortable and the sheets were clean.||There was WiFi available but it didn't really work that well in the barn but not an issue for us. The WiFi signal was strong by the picnic tables and the for pit area. ||We were served a delicious breakfast outside at the picnic table where we could take in the scenic views of the property. It was beautiful and Angela's homemade muffins were amazing. I would highly recommend the breakfast if you have time for it ($10 a person extra charge) good value for price. ||Overall we had a great stay and would highly recommend this stay to others. Will definitely be back!

My daughter and I had an excellent experience! The hosts were genuinely kind and friendly and solicitous of our comfort (without being at all intrusive). We loved walking along the trails on the property. Very pretty! I was very impressed by the quality of the breakfast Angela prepared for us and especially grateful for how carefully and creatively she addressed my daughter's food allergies. It was delicious!

5 stars are not enough. Everything about the Country Road House and Berries Bed and Breakfast is warm and welcoming, with a quaint, rustic charm. The scenery is overwhelmingly beautiful.  The Cellar House was quite comfortable,  and the breakfasts were absolutely delicious.  The Borne family were perfect hosts/hostesses.  Angela, John, Matt, Sam, and Brooke have truly found their calling in the hospitality field. The Country Road House and Berries Bed and Breakfast will be my first choice of lodging during future visits to the area.

I stayed in the barn loft at The Country Road House.
When I booked, I was looking for a unique place to stay while I drove by the area. This was the perfect spot.
The barn loft was clean and spacious, Angela was super friendly, and the bed was very comfortable.
To my surprise, the outhouse had no odor and was very well kept, while keeping it rustic and historic.
The farm was really lovey. I loved visiting the goats on the hill and enjoyed the peace and quiet after the sun went down.
I will most definitely be returning.

Tip for Travelers: If you like sleeping in a chilly space, the barn loft may not be for you. I would book one of the other two spaces on the farm. The loft is a little warm. (Think Glamping) Or book it in the cooler months for a really unique experience.

If you are a primitive camper than this is for you!!!! You have a roof a bed and an outhouse!!!!! The breakfast is easily 5 stars!!!! Both Angela and John are wonderful and eager to please! They had their hands full with 2 large families over the weekend but everything was smooth as strawberry jelly!!! The other guests were just my favorite! We had wonderful weather and were just as happy with the barn as our tent! I don't know about you but I don't think that I have ever had quiche while camping but I think I will have to look into primitive camping quiche! LOL! If you need a minute away and are local it's just a must and if you aren't and want some peace and tranquility with a great host than the Country Roads and Berries B & B is your thing!!!!
