Came to visit someone and this was the closest option. It was ok. I was disappointed after reading the outstanding reviews. I like to support local business and was glad to see a family run motel. The motel is outdated which didn't really bother me. It seemed clean enough. The room smelled of cigarettes which was difficult to handle. The beds were soft and semi comfortable, slept a few hours. Couldn't get the room very warm. I have stayed at far nicer places for less money. Would I stay here again? No. But, it was ok for 1 night.

The Count Gilu is a very nice, family owned motel that has been in business in Welch for many years. It is conveniently located, very clean, the beds are firm, there is plenty of hot water and excellent WIFI and TV. We always stay at Count Gilu when we visit family in Welch. Rooms come with small refrigerator and some rooms are efficiency suites. It is close to several locally owned restaurants, also Wendys, McDonalds and Subway.

By far one of the cleanest hotel rooms I have been in lately. John was amazing to work with. Came in late and was still met with a smile. Highly recommended.

We came to wv to visit family. We wanted to stay in a hotel for privacy. We were told about the hotel from family and chose to stay here. Unfortunately I could not find the address with GPS, but did find it by using Google directions. |We didn't get here in time the first night, so we stayed at a comfort inn in bluefield. We came to welch the next day and got a room here. We are very happy with our room. Very clean, and comfortable. It has everything we need except a hair dryer. |I slept better here than the night in a big chain hotel the night before. Also it is much closer to Iager where our family lives. |Also I have to say, Mona is wonderful! She is a lovely lady who really cares about her job and the people she deals with. |She is taking wonderful care of us!

Stayed at the Count Gilu July 4th weekend and was not disappointed. Staff extremely friendly and room was very clean. The best part of the experience is a actually felt like I was at home and not at a cold motel. Furnishing were older but in good condition and room was warm and comfortable. The room we stayed in had everything that we needed, small kitchenette, dishes, utensils etc. Best part was the bubbling brook that ran behind the motel and every relaxing hearing while drinking morning coffee. I would definitely stay here again on a future visit!

Staff is amazing. Very welcoming. As others have stated it is an older motel but very cozy and the beds are comfortable. Only stayed for one night but would stay here again. Room was clean.

I was there for one night in August, in town for business. This motel is clean and it's safe. The bedroom and bathroom were both quite large. The pictures on this site are accurate. I recommend this place.

I travel 48 weeks a year for work. After all the stock formal hotels this motel is a wonderful reprieve! It feels like home! |They have rugs on the bathroom floors, glass cups and glasses to use, quilts on the bed. Such a relaxing comfortable feel!||They still use real keys so you don't have to worry about getting to your room and you keycard won't work! ( My biggest pet peve at hotels!)| 😀 Mona in the office is the sweetest lady! |I highly recommend this motel!
