In regard to the comments posted by the hotel in response to my original review (as below), I have no axe to grind. My review was simply to point out a problem that did happen, so that other travelers could be aware of it and take it into consideration when deciding whether or not to stay at this property.
My point remains the same. I think the owners and the staff are trying hard to run a respectable property, as witnessed by the money recently invested in the property for updates and renovations, and the commitment to service by the staff people we interacted with. But unfortunately, some people who stay there are ruining it. The cost of staying there might be too low for the hotel's own good, to the point where groups of people get the idea that you each throw in $20, and voila, instant party venue. Our problem was people talking louder than they needed to, and then playing music loudly after being warned, which sure sounds like people out for their idea of a good time instead of a good night's sleep.
To say that the hotel does not have this problem is disingenuous, because it happened, and nobody is disputing this. Based on my review and others, a person thinking about staying here may conclude that such a problem is isolated - draw your own conclusions. But we stayed there, we know what we experienced, and it ruined an otherwise perfectly acceptable stay.

Rooms and service were great, and location is close to, but not next to major highways (no traffic noise) plus a lot of shopping and restaurants, although the area is slightly overdeveloped and showing its age.
So why is the overall rating lower? Because I based it on a factor not shown, the clientele. We booked based on reviews that mentioned a recent remodeling, a location close to where we had an appointment, and price. The hotel has indeed recently been redone, and the rooms are clean, modern, and have everything you need for an overnight stop. Breakfast was sufficient, with 4 hot items, cereal, muffins, fruit, milk, juice, and coffee. So no problems there. Instead, the problem was because of the price, the property attracts people looking for an inexpensive place to party, The room across from us had at least 3 people in it carrying on. We kept waiting for them to settle down, but by 12:30 AM, we had had enough and asked the front desk attendant to move us. She quickly did, but she also confronted the people in the room, with predictable results - the minute she left, on a subsequent trip to the lobby, we noticed the room occupants turned up their music and were yelling at each other just as loudly. You know what such people are like - nobody is going to tell them what to do, and asking them to be considerate only makes them defiant and more rambunctious. The attendant certainly doesn't make enough to have to deal with unruly customers like this- they really should have a security guard on duty overnight. Unless this property addresses this problem, I feel they will continue to get abusive, disrespectful guests and the property will get rundown very quickly in the future. It is a shame because it seems like the employees are really trying to run a respectable establishment, but those efforts get foiled by rude people with no respect for anything or anyone. If you stay here, be cautious, and scope out the entire property for any problem guest/rooms so that you know what areas to avoid before you check in and accept a room.
