We stayed at the Creekbend Cafe site. All three of our RV spots were incredibly small and not level. It was quite difficult to get all the campers and vehicles parked in a way that everything fit and if we had not been traveling as a group it simply would not have worked. We arrived under the impression that a site allowing for 35 and 40 foot campers would also take into consideration that the vehicle we towed the camper with would need to be parked there (the terms and conditions states we could park up to 2 vehicles) and this was not the case. These sites have power, however we had several power surges and instances where the power cut off. There were dead branches hanging down into one of the sites that made it difficult for a taller camper to park there without being damaged. Restrooms were two port a potties that weren’t the worst but they were a little gross. The location for these was fantastic, but we likely won’t stay here again. Suggest less sites that are larger and more level as well as more extensive tree grooming and probably having someone take a look at the power surge issue as that is a major concern for campers.

Dumpster was full, deputy was here to remove a vagrant, no showers, restroom had no paper towels. One worker told us we could use the shower and laundry, next morning we were told it was not available and the worker the night before had told us wrong. Told to use shower at Resurrection Pass. Campsite was level. Water spigot was barely out of the ground below electric box and sprayed water if you didn't get hose on just right, which was hard to do being so close to the ground. Had to run sewer hose uphill to sewer in spot 4 so make sure you have something to prop up your hoses. Not something rv renters usually have. Have to drive downhill to get to and from RV sites.

RV sites are small and unlevel. The bathroom is disgusting - it’s dirty, there’s no hot water and in the morning there was no toilet paper and no paper towels because the door stays open all night and it seems to be a community wide bathroom. Campground is loud and apparently there are no quiet hours. Wi-Fi only works on the porch. Store staff were as helpful as they could be given the circumstances. It seems like the owner doesn’t put many resources into the RV part of the business. Store is well-stocked.

Nice and quiet location on the Hope Hwy. Plumbed cabins available for rent and RV sites with full and partial hook ups. There is a small market and liquor store on site, which means there is a bit of come and go traffic during business hours. Located about 1/4 mile from "downtown," it is easily within walking distance though there are no sidewalks and the shoulder is narrow in some parts. The cabins were clean, in fact when a guest checked out, I could smell the Fabulouso just walking by outside.

This place is fun, it's the new Heart Beat of Hope AK. Some folks say its expensive, but they are not taking into consideration the logistics it requires to get supplies to a fairly remote area on the peninsula. Prices are perfectly adequate for last minute grabs. Great local activities, very, very nice staff! The RV park is fun welcoming and Kind! A great Weekend getaway from the Anchorage Grind!

This is a three-part review of the town, the lodge, and the cabins.

The Town: We learned the hard way that the town is closed on Tuesdays. Like, completely. And it's still mostly closed on Wednesday. You have one option to eat; and it's overpriced and unsatisfactory. Second, even on a non-Tuesday, there's very little to do outside of camping. As someone who just did a whirlwind scenic tour of Alaska, I can confidently state there are far better places to do that (Seward for one nearby).

The lodge: Instead of camping we stayed at the lodge above the general store. The rooms smelled stale, there was no climate control so the room was 80 degrees, the windows were adorned with curtains that were nearly transparent (making the room non-dimmable) and the curtain rod was broken causing them to fall down in the middle of the night, there was no Internet, no satellite TV, the shower door was broken, and the overhead fan blades were such that they had no throw (no air movement despite being on high). For the rate charged, $150/night, I can only recommend this room in a dire pinch. Fixing the ceiling fan, shower door, and installing room darkening curtains with blinds would be significant improvements that would warrant a second chance. Regardless, travelers beware: Do NOT stay in Hope on a Tuesday.

The Cabins: The other half of my party was "upgraded" after the lodge was double booked; so they were given a cabin at no additional charge. They were disappointed. The window was broken and the ceiling fan was falling out of the ceiling (it was woefully out of balance and had jerked loose of the mount); therefore, it was unusable. The room was a one-bedroom with a futon but the futon had no linens. Lastly, the coffee pot still had used grounds in it, leaving everyone wondering what else wasn't clean inside the room. Well, that question was answered after discovering a dirty spoon inexplicably left on the heater....in the living room.

I do not recommend the town, the lodge, or the cabins.
