We were on a week long Alaskan cruise in June, and can honestly say this was probably our favorite highlight of the trip! Captain Rick was so incredible. The kindest human being and an incredible wealth of knowledge! We feel so incredibly lucky to have found this tour and had this experience. Not only was Rick awesome, but his daughter Stevie was the best! What a little entrepreneur and also incredibly intelligent! Pretty much any question we asked of her/Rick, she was able to give us a very informational answer everytime. We also had the opportunity to see some Orcas in June, which was pretty out of the ordinary and we have Rick to thank for that! We will definitely be back and Recommend Rick to everyone we know going to Sitka!

My family and I had such a wonderful experience with Captain Rick in Sitka!
We learned so much from our tour, and he even explained to us about the fishing boats and how they catch fish from his experience working in the industry. We saw so many whales and had some close encounters which was absolutely amazing.
He took us around to see as many wildlife as possible to make our trip worthwhile and the boat was spacious and comfortable for the 5 of us.

I’d recommend this tour to anyone visiting Sitka. support small local businesses!

Captain Rick of Coastal Tours Sitka provided us an amazing experience while we were in port during our Alaska cruise. We made a great decision booking with him directly, as he was very conscientious about making sure we were back in time. He was very informative about the industry and knew the exact places to go so we could see sea lions, bald eagles, salmon, grizzly bears and humpback whales. It was definitely a memorable day!

This was a life-changing experience. I cannot recommend enough. Although I’m much delayed in writing this review (we were there in July), it’s not at all a reflection on the stellar, 5-star day we had with Coastal Tours Sitka. In almost the first 5 minutes I was tearing up from the eagles we were seeing. And my dreams came true with wonderful spotting of mama and baby whales! A bear on the beach! Otters galore! Oh, and did I mention eagles? Alaska is a magical place, but taking this adventure allowed us to see it up close and get to know it from a local’s perspective. The boat is super comfortable and warm. Lots of snacks and drinks provided, and we felt safe and cozy the entire time. Completely Unforgettable.

Captain Rick and boat was a great way to see Sitka Sound. Rick was informative and did outstanding job finding us grey and humpbacks whales to view. We also saw otters, seals, seabirds and eagles. There is plenty of space for six passengers.

We had an amazing trip with Rick today. Despite rough water, rain and wind, Captain Rick delivered a world-class experience. We saw eagles, sea lions, otters, humpback whales, gray whales and salmon.

Rick was very personable, great with kids and told us all about life in Sitka and the fishing industry. He took us by some fishing boats and explained to us how they operate even using a book with pictures to show the whole process we were seeing live.

His boat is extremely comfortable. It’s new, had plenty of space for the 6 guests, the heater kept us warm, plenty of snacks and water available and an even a head (bathroom) available.

I can’t recommend Captain Rick and Coastal Tours Sitka enough!

Booking with Captain Rick was the best decision we made. His boat was great! Heated if you got to cold, bathroom and snacks also. He made sure we got the best experience possible the day we went. Spotted eagles, sea lions and lots of grey whales. His love of the area is very apparent and he shared lots of insight of Sitka and the area. Would definitely book with him again. Do yourself a favor and book a trip with him during your stay!!!

Rick was a great captain and guide. We saw plenty of whales (mom and babies) as well as seals and bald eagles. The private boat was a much better option than the larger boats through the cruise line. My wife was happy to find the cabin was heated! Easy to book and communicate with and a very short (200ft) walk from where the cruise buses drop you off downtown. I’d highly recommend you book this.
