We had to check in at a different hotel half a mile away. The clerk at check in was exceedingly unfriendly and I suspect it was motivated by homophobia.

The motel description said there was no pet fee, but they DO charge a pet fee. When I showed the clerk the hotel ad saying there was no fee she pointed out that the entire description for City Center Motel by OYO was wrong. The description said there are 40 rooms. There are actually only 12 rooms. The description says noon check out. It's actually 11am. She still charged me for the pet fee.

There are no hooks, or hangers to hang your coats. We literally had to hang out coats to dry over the shower rod.

Otherwise the room was very clean. The furniture waus great and the mattress was amazing. Overall it was a great deal for the price. I just expect to be treated with kindness and to have advertised prices, including fees and check out time, honored.

I want to preface this review by stating that I travel frequently across the country, and stay primarily in budget 2 star motels. My standards are low.

Had I known the office to check in was half a mile away, I would have chosen to stay somewhere else. Extremely confusing.

The rooms are absurdly small. Luckily it’s just me but I can’t imagine how cramped this room would be with even two people.

The walls are so thin I can hear my neighbor using the toilet right from my bed. And not just the flushing - the actual using of the toilet.

There is no where in the bathroom to rest your toiletries - there isn’t even a hook to hang your towel.

My neighbors window is right next to my door though, and they have their curtain wide open so it was kind of awkward having to struggle with my door while he’s just lying there in bed literally 5ft from me.

Oh, and the hand sink is broken so it does not drain any water - and because the office is half a mile away, I would have to get in my car and driver over there to request help.

I guess I wouldn’t be so salty if I hadn’t stayed in their other location the night before for half the price - the room was three times the size as this one and easily gets a 5 star review from me.

The room is clean. And I can park my car right in front of my door for easy access. The bed is standard, as are the other amenities; tv, microwave, fridge and coffee maker.

There are hotels and motels everywhere near by the shops and promenade - I’m not going to give this one any credit for close proximity or anything like that. This place really just falls short in an over saturated market where you have *plenty* of other affordable options.

Room was very clean and the price was good! The housekeeping staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is excellent- very close to the promenade and restaurants.

I didn't get to check-in. We had bad traffic that set us past 9pm. My husband and I have never heard of a hotel requiring a check-in time, but knowing this now I can see the red flags of how this business is run. The phone number posted did not connect us with anyone and being told to go to a different location after traveling for 5+ hours left and incredibly sour taste in our mouths. We went to the Saltline nearby and we will continue to use them instead, especially considering they accommodate late night travelers without extra coordination.

OK - I am going to say this loud for the back of the class... This Is A Budget Motel!
Meaning if you want the newest and shiniest, the space and amenities go spend $200+ somewhere else.

For me spending under $100 per night to be steps away from downtown and the ocean I will accept all the quirks.

Was it the fanciest place? No. But there was a bed, desk, TV, shower and toilet. Even had a microwave and refrigerator/freezer. Was a small small space but they made it functional. It had somethings that could be polished and patched up but nothing was dirty or off putting. Even had WIFI. And was quiet. If you see a homeless person don't blame the hotel.. Its the way it is now.

There is no office onsite (they have another motel 5 minutes up the road) so you have to go there to check in. I don't blame them for not wanting to staff two locations; especially with the winter coming. The office lady was polite and helpful.

This is a no frills no motel that you can see the carousal from. I would 100% stay again.

If you are going to be nit picking every little thing about this place, go somewhere else. Its cheap and has great location.. Accept that is is not going to be the Ritz.

My only real complaint was that the bed was truly awful. Springs were totally shot and it was like sleeping in a hammock! Room was tiny, that's OK. Some peeling paint, a broken but still lockable window. And a pretty much non-functional bathroom fan. Bedding, towels and room were clean.

Check in was painless and fast despite the power outage. And price for the location was fantastic.

We'll stay again for a weekend at the beach on the cheap! (Hopefully with a better bed!}

First you can't chekin here, you have to drive several blocks south to check in. When I arrived the lady working looked at me as if I was some sort of criminal. I'm a brown Mexican so I know the look from a white person when they don't trust you.

Non of the outlet in the room could hold a charger. They are to loose and they fall.

There's is an insane amount of dog poop on the premises. I steped on some at night because there is also no good lighting outside.
