A very special place run by very special people, Chulitna Lodge offers up an opportunity to be part of a true Alaska experience. Flying over the glaciers to get there, you are picked up by boat on Lake Clark and greeted by the entire staff as the boat pulls up to the lodge. A cozy operation with several cabins, the folks running the place make you feel so welcome. Surrounded by majestic mountains, we went fishing for Arctic Grayling, hiked to a magnificent waterfall, walked along the beach viewing a gigantic beaver dam. There are so many things to do, but some of the best moments spent were sitting on the porch taking it all in, or hanging out at the communal dinners sharing stories. The food is so great, including the lunches packed for our daily excursions. The residency program for artists offers visitors an opportunity to interact with these talented individuals, and the handcrafted details from bathroom counters to cabin furniture make for a unique place. The staff is talented, knowledgeable and share a love of the outdoors. Good Times.

We experienced a warm welcome with a comfortable cabin after chilly time in the backcountry. The meals were great and well-presented. Great sack lunch for our hike. Everyone on the staff was friendly and always helpful. A yoga class on the deck in the sunshine was awesome!

My daughter and I stayed here one night on our way to Talkeetna for an airplane flight to Denali, which I highly recommend. The owners were very gracious with their food and time by giving us a tour of the facilities., especially the two-story building.

Chulitna Lodge and Lake Clark are a perfect match producing a quality, serene, authentic and beautiful way to experience remote Alaska. A lodge lovingly designed and continuously upgraded by craftspeople and artists, with plenty to do or not do, and with some of the best home chef meals and lunchboxes we had across our three weeks in Alaska. Bring your own outdoor skills, and make your own adventure.

I decided last summer to begin planning for this summer a trip I've been wanting to make for over 50 years... to Alaska. Lake Clark National Park was my choice of destinations, and as I looked at possibilities for accommodations there, I quickly settled upon Chulitna as the place I wanted to stay. The pictures of the rustic nature of Chulitna fit perfectly for me with a visit to an Alaskan wilderness. And just as if not even more importantly was the sense which came through to me of the spirit of Chulitna. Well, the reality of the place is even more wonderful than I imagined. I spent 8 days/nights there... going on fly outs to see bear, then caribou... taking hikes... kayaking on Lake Clark and being escorted on a boat tour of the Lake by Collin. The beauty of the Lake Clark area is beyond describable... it simply has to be experienced! And Chulitna is definitely the place to stay! The setting is breathtaking, the rustic nature of Chulitna and it's spirit fit perfectly with he Alaskan wilderness that is the Lake Clark area. The staff is superb, the lodge and it's porch inviting, the meals phenomenal, my cabin simply appointed and with a bed I'd say the most comfortable I've ever slept on. I would return to Lake Clark and Chulitna in a heartbeat. And I cannot recommend it too highly to anyone planning a visit to Lake Clark as THE choice to make for their accommodations.

If you want to experience the beautiful Alaskan wilderness the Chulitna Lodge is the place to go. Most visitors take advantage of the many activities offered. However, we went there to relax and celebrate my husband's 90th birthday. If was perfect. The friendly staff did everything to make us feel comfortable providing a "family" atmosphere. We came home with special memories including those of a surprise birthday party.

An extraordinary location, comfortable lodgings and an outstanding crew result in an Alaska experience that is otherwise hard to access. We ate sockeye from the run, saw the smoking and canning process, hiked beautiful mountains without another soul, were picked up in a float plain to see bears on the tundra and paddle boarded on beaver ponds, all the while surrounded by the breathtaking views which make the Alaskan Wilderness so exceptional. Mara and her gang create a home stay experience which is hard to leave!

We (family of four, kids ages 13 & 15) had a wonderful five night stay at Chulitna Lodge. We were so impressed with the location and owner and staff at the lodge (Thank you Mara, Steve, Justin, Coco, Tian and Adam). We went on three excursions (hike up Tanalian Mt, bear viewing and fishing) and explored locally by hiking, SUPing kayaking. The lodge arranged the excursions for us and took such great care of us. The meals everyday were excellent- even working around our family’s dietary restrictions (our kids loved the pancakes)! We also highly recommend the sauna followed by a jump in the lake and back to the sauna again. There are many games to play in the evenings or chat with the artists in residence. The five days went too fast. Thank you Chulitna Lodge- we hope to be back!
