I've stayed at many amazing places in some of the most scenic spots in Europe and North America, and there are none I like better than Chito Beach Resort. My wife and I have returned to Chito several times over the past few years and each time it's amazed us in new ways, from the ethereal varieties of light to the spectacular wildlife (I'm sitting here right now, looking up occasionally at gray whales, harlequin ducks, and sea otters, all while drinking an outstanding cup of coffee made in the cute and tidy kitchen in the Wolf Den), to the genuine care and personability of the proprietors, Matt and Tamara. The area is remote, and not overrun with tourists, and is one of the best places I've ever been to reflect and recharge. It's hard these days to put a price on that. We've always come here with a good list of things to do -- hikes on the beaches and in the mountains and along quiet rivers, kayaking and paddle boarding in the Strait or one of the many lakes nearby, or just hanging out on the gorgeous grounds of Chito and staring across at Vancouver Island -- but Matt and Tamara never fail to suggest something unexpected to augment our experience. Last time it was mushroom hunting, which spawned a new addiction for my wife and me. The accommodations are first rate, unique, clean, comfortable (the bed is easily the most comfortable one I've stayed in anywhere) and very well cared for, which is saying a lot in this pretty harsh environment. We love it here, and are always a little morose leaving, but console ourselves by planning another return before too much time passes. Very highly recommended.

During our first morning over coffee we spotted a whale spouting twice about 50 yards from the front of the cabin. We brought our kayaks and paddled nearby Lake Crescent and Lake Ozette although you could also kayak from the resort itself. The views were extraordinary.

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful spot on the Straits of Juan de Fuca at the end of June/early July -- as a base of operations to visit Cape Flattery/Makah Reservation and Museum; First and Second Beaches; Hoh Rainforest; Sol Duc River and Falls; and Crescent Lake. Tamara and Matt were most gracious hosts -- welcoming, friendly, helpful, but not under foot. The cabin at Chito Beach was spotless and well-appointed. We slept comfortably after our adventures and had everything we needed to pull together our meals. Recommend you pack a cooler for groceries that you pick up in Port Angeles (unpacking it on arrival into your cabin fridge). We had a fantastic visit and enjoyed meeting other guests who chose this lovely spot to restore the core. If you enjoy beautiful vistas, eagles, hummingbirds, and comfortable accommodations, highly recommend.

We stayed at the Bird House and it was the best. Location is just marvelous, waking up with the beach by your window. Lots of hummingbirds choosing to hang around. Luckily we also saw some seals in the area. Perfect weekend or all-week getaway for friends, couples or a small family. The place is also a short drive to Shi Shi Beach and Cape Flattery.

The minute you step on the property you feel at home. You can tell that the owners truly care about your experience and take pride in their property. We stayed in the lighthouse which had an amazing view of the sunrise each morning and is situated just right to block the breeze from the water. We were lucky enough the see a few sea lions on nearby rocks, a group of river otters swim by and water spouts from whales as they passed by. You feel like you're in your own little paradise but still close to some amazing hiking.

The bed was super comfy and the room was spotlessly clean (and I'm super picky). They even provide you with a detailed list of what is provided before checkin so you can pack accordingly. The kitchen has everything that you need and it is all good quality and in great condition. I have no complaints at all and would stay here again. The price is reasonable for the accommodations and the pictures on their website are spot on.

Stayed here with my wife last summer and it was great! Very beautiful and friendly people. Not much to eat nearby so bring food.

We recently returned from 4 nights at the beautiful Chito Beach Resort. We stayed at the cottage named “The Lighthouse” and it was just lovely. It is located on the eastern end of the Olympic Peninsula, right on the water of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. This beautiful spot was a great base for the hiking adventures we did in the Olympic National Park. Our hosts, Tamara and Matt, were incredibly welcoming and so generous in sharing how they came to invest in this amazing property. We not only appreciated their friendliness, but also their recommendations for hiking and other things to do. The area is so quiet and restful, the perfect place to de-stress. It is very unique and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in the area. The kitchen was well equipped and there were grills for your use. There are just a few small restaurants in the area that serve mostly burgers and fried food, so we were happy to bring much of our own food for meals. We stayed here several years ago, with different owners, but Tamara and Matt have made some very nice improvements and it is obvious they love their property and the beauty of the area. The views from our cottage were indeed priceless and getting “away” from everyday life was just what we needed to renew our souls!!!

If you need rest and relaxation and to leave behind the noise of your daily life, Chito Beach Resort is the place! We have stayed in each of the six cabins on the shores of the Strait of Juan De Fuca. Each of the cabins is its own special paradise. They are all excellent and adjacent to miles of open beach to walk and see wildlife galore. Beautiful grounds and a very cool fire pit to gather, roast marshmallows and watch the sun set over Vancouver Island. It has been our "go to" ocean beach for many years.
