We stayed there a few years ago and I cannot believe I did not write a review.
This place is beautifully located with an ocean view.
They are pet friendly with a fee for your pet's stay like most places nowadays.
We stayed in the Rose Garden Suite and it was lovely. Our breakfast was delicious and though we chose to dine out, there is a kitchen if you choose to buy food and dine in.
The grounds are a nice area to take in the views. We came when the flowers were in bloom but not quite when the butterflies were around.
The reason for the 4 stars is though the place is Victorian, some of the furnishings were just a tad dated. I realize this is a subjective comment.

Amazingly beautiful! The views are breathtaking. The rooms are spacious, clean and relaxing. 5 minute walk to the beach yet set in peaceful seclusion. The staff are so friendly and helpful. I love it. I would say it's definitely my favorite spot.

This place is great! Fancy old Victorian style bed and breakfast. The staff is friendly. Each room is unique and cool in it's own way. The views of the Monterey Bay are exceptional. We stayed in the Victorian Room and it has amazing bay windows that you can watch the bay from bed or the breakfast table. I highly recommend Monarch Cove Inn.

A beautiful old world charm with ocean view & great garden. We felt relaxed as soon as we got in the garden area. Sunny Gables, a 2 BR suite was just awesome and welcoming. 3 of our grown up kids did not want to leave but they had to go home & to work next day. My wife felt so relaxed when we left the 3rd day. Met 2 very friendly staff. Marry made us feel welcome over the phone & then meeting her was a delight. Jacqueline was also friendly & showed us around. Oh yea the bed is very comfortable. VP

What quaint, romantic room overlooking the bay.. The view was to die for. The staff was nice and friendly. Breakfast was brought to the room. Hearing the waves hit the beach was so serene. This was the best Valentine's Day ever!!!

Nice location, but we had lots of problems here. Black mold in the shower for starters. I guess since I'm tall it allows me to see things shorter people can't, so I get to view little gems like that. The breakfast was not so hot and we ended up going out for breakfast. Not sure how they can charge this much for a place either especially in this condition. Ah well, not going here again.

The views of the ocean were beautiful but the place is need of repair. There is mold, dust, dirt all over the rooms. The carpets is disgustingly dirty and the beds are rock hard. It priced way out of it's league. It should be more of a $120 a night place. The parking is terrible. Anthony McCurio would have a fit over this place. I can see with upgrades and repairs, this could be a wonderful place.

I have very much enjoyed staying here and now that my son is older, He asked me about this place because of his fond memories there. He and his girlfriend are going on there first road trip together and a tradition is brewing. I can't say enough nice things about this place.
