This is a unique coffee place in Westwood. Very modern and nice. Plenty of options like free library, board games etc.. to keep the customers engaged. Coffee, pastries are all good.

Good coffee, pastries, friendly service. Beautiful inside. Family owned and clearly caring about a lot about sustainability. Board games, a snake (in the cage). Definitely recommend a stop by if you're nearby! Worth a detour 🙂

They charged me $7 more for my sandwich then the price advertise online. I ordered a Monte Cristo because it's rare to see it on a menu and I hadn't had one for a long time. I was disappointed.

When I got to my car and opened the box to look at my sandwich there was a long black hair in between the bread and the meat in my sandwich.

I know that this can happen anywhere even at home but if you have long hair you should have it up in a net any hair should be up in a net when handling food.

I was very hungry and had to get to work so I only ate the half of the sandwich that didn't have the hair in it. The French toast with soggy but the sandwich was stacked with a good amount of ham.

Also the house salad was just a bunch of the innermost leaves of the lettuce head and were bitter.

Also the people that worked there looked unkempt. I realize this is in the mountains but food service workers should at least look neat.

This is my first bad review of a place.

We absolutely love the Blue Ox! It's the cutest little coffee/treat shop. They have plenty of yummy coffee but also slushies, baked goods, ice cream, and breakfast/lunch items. Plus, they support some great charities! Put this on you list to visit when in the Lake Almanor area.

So I’m giving this a 2 star simply because my fiancé and I went two days in a row, the first day I got a Salted Carmel Frappe and it was absolutely terrible . There was nothing but an inch of Carmel at the bottom of my cup (the Carmel ended up getting completely hard about halfway thru the drink) , the whipped cream was disgustingly thick and fatty , the frappe itself tasted so watery , I didn’t taste hardly any coffee , and also not to mention that their straws are not meant for coffee , they’re restaurant grade soda straws . Today , the second day , we decided to try the red bull boba drinks , which are actually pretty good , but no boba straw ? What drink shop offers boba drinks but doesn’t have straws so you can actually drink your drink AND get the boba , that’s the entire point of putting boba in the drink 🤣

YOU MUST GO. Perhaps the best cafe I’ve ever been to. An abundance of coffees and drinks, fresh baked goods, lunch dishes. Interior is cozy with board games. Exterior is adorable and we ate outside. Brownie (especially) and cinnamon roll were insane. Local goods sold inside too! Owner is incredibly lovely

This is my favorite Cafe in the area. The staff are great and easy to talk to, the food and drinks are delicious. I love bringing a book or some work and hanging out.
