Great place, great food! We were in town on a New Year’s Day adventure and wanted to grab a bite. Our server Tank was awesome and knew how to make the perfect mimosa. We sat at the counter and got great service, delicious food, and a fun step back to simpler times in this delightful community diner. It’s a relaxing atmosphere where family and friends can gather with a simple menu that will still have something for everyone. We can’t wait for another trip up from Tacoma to enjoy! The hash browns were perfectly cooked and the waffles are a must.

I visited this café yesterday (Monday) to pick up a DoorDash order, and my experience was shockingly different from when I dined in a few months ago. Back then, I was greeted warmly and treated well. However, it seems that if you’re not dining in, you’re not welcome.

When I walked in, not a single staff member acknowledged my presence. Three waitresses were standing just a few feet away, glanced at me briefly, and continued their conversations without so much as a greeting. Even when a kitchen staff member told them to assist me, they ignored the request. After waiting about 15 minutes, one waitress finally asked for the name on the order. She seemed confused while bagging the food and, when she handed it to me, didn’t say a single word—no eye contact, no courtesy, just complete coldness.

At that moment, I regretted even walking in. It’s incredibly unprofessional to make a customer feel unwelcome simply because they’re picking up an order instead of dining in. Businesses—especially local ones—thrive on customer support, and how you treat people matters. One bad experience can turn into negative word-of-mouth, which can hurt business in a small town.

The lack of basic customer service here is disappointing, especially considering that the staff members are experienced adults. What changed since my last visit? If I could give this place zero stars, I would. You’ve lost my business, and I hope this café takes the time to train its staff properly because no customer should feel this unwelcome.

Love this place. The owner and staff are good home charm and service. The food is plentiful and delicious. Always A+ experience and one of our favorites.

Here the run down about the Blue Bird Cafe. It has great food and huge portions. If you're looking to get full this is the place to go for breakfast. The service was mediocre, I had to repeatedly ask the waitress for a refill on drinks and for sauces. The atmosphere was family friendly, although it is a bit cramped seating. I would recommend this place for a party of two and be prepared to take some left overs home. The baco was delicious and the omelet was monstrous. Good experience overall for breakfast. I have tried the lunch or dinner meals so I can say one way or another about that.

I put in an online order around 11:30AM
Was informed order would be ready at 12:15
I walked in and waited about five minutes, no biggie. It’s the day after the Fourth of July, they seemed short staffed, the order wasn’t ready. I can see the chefs that seemed confused when the second waiter or worker asked if we were helped. This is at 12:30.
So we waited, patiently, no problem, they made up the order even though we were informed that it was done but it was obviously forgotten about. I didn’t mind the waiting. I will be attaching photos of how we picked up the order and you guys can determine if you would be happy with this or not. Three separate Benedict’s, two slathered together in a box, all drowning and hollandaise pouring out of containers. We weren’t offered any type of compensation, or sorry for the wait or anything like that. Was happy to wait, but not happy with how everything was handled. Paid $74 for this.

I came up to Arlington for work. I came to this diner for breakfast every day. Places like this should be protected at all costs. The biscuits are homemade and delicious.

We’ve been going here on occasion for over 15 yrs. The atmosphere is awesome and had that nostalgic feeling. Comfortable booths and friendly staff.
However today’s visit was the 1st disappointing lunch we’ve ever experienced.
Husband had a patty melt with a salad.
The “salad” consisted of nothing but heart and the centers of the lettuce. Nothing was green.
I ordered a club house with no tomato and side of mayo.Because face it club houses never have enough mayo.
My sandwich came with no lettuce and deep fried bacon and no side of mayo. Which I paid 50 cents for that I noticed when we got our bill. Really 50 cents We had to stop our waitress to ask for lettuce and when my sandwich returned I too had nothing but hearts or pieces of the center.
I am truly saddened because we were just discussing how we have never had a bad dining experience here.
Unfortunately we will not return.

The staff here makes or breaks the experience. I was hungry and thought I wouldn't care. Our server took her sweet time. So much so that people before is got up and left.
When the food was brought out. It was incorrect. And barely warm. This restaurant has decent food but don't get adventurous like I was. Stick to the normal stuff and hopefully you'll have a better time then I did.
