The Blanchard House is an absolute gem! If you're looking for a traditional "bed and breakfast" experience along the Mendocino Coast, definitely book your stay here.

My wife and I stayed at the Blanchard House over 4th of July weekend, as there wasn't much availability in Mendocino proper. We're so happy we did, as the property is a very short drive from downtown Mendocino (5-7 minutes), but has more of an "in nature" feel. The house is nestled in a cozy residential street off Highway 1, and the balcony outside the guest room has a view of Van Damme Beach across the street in one direction, and dense redwood forest in the other. What a peaceful way to wake up in the morning! Beats the train horns and sirens blaring outside our home in Oakland any day.

Melody and James were phenomenal hosts. We were greeted with homemade banana bread and Ghirardelli chocolates when we arrived, and the guest room was extremely cozy and thoughtfully arranged. They stocked the fridge with fruit, water, and snacks, and thought of every little detail to make us feel at home. James even made us his famous espresso on our last day, as we chatted with them about their lives, travels, and the history of the house. Melody also gifted us some homemade jam before we left. These people are truly some of the kindest, most salt of the earth people I've ever met!

The house is over 100 years old (!), but doesn't feel that way. The guest room is completely private and above their main residence, so there's plenty of privacy if that's a concern.

Book the Blanchard House, you won't regret it. And tell your hosts Bryan and Laura say hi 🙂

Blanchard House is special||Offers seclusion and privacy better than most hotels.... private security gate makes it safer. Christopher Reeve and his wife celebrated there 4th anniversary at Blanchard House at the height of his popularity in 1991.||||One oversized guest room with many amenities. A lovely view of the coats line.||||TV videos are all plentiful and Wifi is perfect Cell signal works but are marginal. ||No hot breakfast was disappointment more than offset by the warmth and care of Melody and James. The room is loaded with fruit and other treats in the refrigerator / micro wave area. Nice electric fireplace makes the room toasty in the early morning||||After a five hour drive the drive way surprised me. It offered little appeal and when we parked we were concerned about the quality of the place. We were wrong ||The property is charming and well managed.... love to return.||||Be sure to make them record your date on arrival....they ask me to come down on my last nigh after I retired t to give them a Credit Card number they already had.... strange conduct||||P T Brent Hotelier Hawaii||||One small item often ruins many good things

We spent five wonderful days at Blanchard house. There is a great view of the ocean from the balcony. The place is quite roomy. It is very comfortable. The hostess was very knowledgeable about local restaurants and sites. All in all it was one of the most relaxing and comfortable vacations we have spent. We would unhesitatingly recommend it to anyone.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights. Melody was extremely friendly, even welcoming us into her home. Everything about this experience was good, communication was perfect, Checkin was easy, the location is stunning with nice views of the ocean, comfortable space and bed, complete with a cast iron tub!
