Blackwater Lodge - Davis, West Virginia

I wanted to write a review because we just came back from staying in the lodge for two nights. It was clean, The staff were friendly and helpful. We had several things That needed to be fixed. The bathroom door would not stay shut. The shower door would not stay shut. And the TV was all messed up which we didn’t watch much TV but still, it would’ve been nice to have one that actually had a good picture. We really enjoyed the pool and the game room with the fireplace. I wanted to post a review about the restaurant because I had heard that the food was not very good but we had a great experience with the food. It was expensive, but it was really good and since it was kind of nasty out, it was nice not to have to go anywhere to eat. On New Year’s Eve they had a wonderful buffet and like I said it was expensive, but we felt like it was worth it. The breakfast bar was also delicious.

The beds are very comfortable. I love the Wild Mountain shampoo, conditioner, and soap!!

I had a wonderful time at the lodge. We stayed in a king suite and the view was great, the updated rooms were very clean. There is an on-site restaurant that’s very convenient. There’s a really nice lobby with tables and a fireplace and a pool and a hot tub that I unfortunately did not have time to use.

A beautiful lodge with beautiful views! Most of the staff was very friendly. It Was a lovely place to stay for two nights. Rooms were a little on the expensive side for being so small. There are no refrigerators in the rooms. They charge you for every meal you eat there even with the expense of the rooms. The food is really not that good. I found myself traveling quite a distance to eat elsewhere. There was a dog outside just below our window barking incessantly. I Booked the room with the canyon view and got a view of the outside area downstairs with a picnic table, could barely see the canyon. They have a trail that you can hike down to a neat little bridge and a waterfall.

The Lodge was nice, the location perfect, service fine and the room was clean. BUT, I would call their King room, Canyon view false advertising. We had a great view of the gym/pool area, a pretty good view of all the rooms perpendicular to ours (we were on an inside corner), but for a canyon view I would have to stick my head out the window and look to the extreme right. I'm very disappointed that they can call this Canyon view and charge extra. Won't be staying there again.

This was a great find. I was genuinely surprised. It is a very nice place to stay. The lodge is welcoming and cozy. The lodge has a restaurant and bar that was fantastic. There is also a gift shop. The room was clean and comfortable. The employees were friendly. There is a pool, fitness center as well as game room.

We (family of 4) stayed here for 2 nights. We had booked this place on a whim as we wanted to spend time together and enjoy nature a little bit. This lodge is quite modern and a nice place to relax. Unfortunately, it was snowing the entire time and we could only manage to step out of the lodge for a couple of short hikes: Lindy and Pendleton View Points and Blackwater Falls. The place is beautiful and should make for a great trip during summer or fall months. However, the large lobby area with comfy chairs/sofas, a fireplace and multiple game options make this a treat if you just want to sit inside and enjoy the scenery.

The Outlander restaurant inside the lodge makes it really convenient to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. The quality of food is Ok, nothing special.

There is free Keurig coffee available at all times, which is nice on cold days. The room seemed a little small, and for a family of four it seemed quite cramped. There are no refrigerators. We struggled to maintain the temperature at a comfortable spot as there is no temperature reading on the thermostat. Also, the sliding door would not stay shut and was a nuisance while using the bathroom or taking a shower.

You can stay here for the experience but is not really a great value for money. I will surely consider staying here not because the lodge itself is great, but the state park is gorgeous.

Great place to stay when in Canaan valley. Restaurant food is better than you’d expect from a park lodge, friendly service and fair prices compared to everything else in the area. Pool, hot tub, amazing scenery and outdoor adventures.

We stayed here for a night while exploring the West Virginia mountains. The resort was absolutely amazing. So much beauty all around and lots to do around the lodge. They let us have some fun with our friend Frankie! Thank you for the amazing memories!!! We will be back one day!!! Highly recommended if going to Blackwater Falls.
