We stayed here for one night in early June during a 10 day trip to the Kenai Peninsula. We booked several cabins but this was definitely our favorite. We truly enjoyed getting to know Maggie, the host, and got to spend some time visiting with her and her friends. It was a perfect way to end our trip. The cabin is spacious and sparkling clean. The bed is really comfortable and you have a view of the beautiful forest surroundings from every window. Hope has shopping (including a really nice art gallery), restaurants, fishing, wildlife viewing and really friendly residents. If you enjoy learning about Alaska history, you will really like it here. We will definitely stay again when we return to Alaska and will make sure to stay longer.

Maggie was a lovely host, and her cabin in the woods was incredibly beautiful - we had everything we could have needed for a perfect stay. We were there two nights, and cooked meals on the grill, got great recommendations from Maggie about where to visit, had the chance to see a moose, and did some hiking in the area. We loved that the cabin was set in the woods - to get to it from Maggie's cabin, you cross a small bridge over a stream and you feel like you are in a magical little world all your own!

This is just an incredible cabin - more like a small apartment really. It has a comfy lounge room and full kitchen facilities, semi-separate bedroom and a twin bed loft for children. There is a wide patio area to sit and relax while taking in the tranquil surrounds of the forest area. It is extremely private. Immaculately clean with a large bathroom. The decor is just beautiful with lots of 'black bear' touches throughout. We wished we had planned to stay longer as it was so peaceful and comfortable.||Thanks Maggie - this seriously was the best place to stay during our month in Alaska. (And we even saw 2 moose on the road as we drove out 😄)

I've lost count as to how many times we have stayed here. This last time we stayed for 7 weeks from mid September to the first week in November. We are building a cabin not far from Maggie's BNB and the convenience was perfect. It has a full kitchen so we didn't have to worry about our meals. Maggie is so accommodating and helpful no matter what. She is the best!!!!! It's tucked into the woods and is so cozy. If you don't book here you are truly missing out. She is very firm on her no pets/no smoking policy and that is what makes this place great. I have allergies, so no worry here. Thanks again Maggie.

Very cozy well equipped cabin in the woods. Hope is a quaint small town with the real Alaska feel. Maggie the owner, is a wealth of local information and just a great down to earth local lady with amazing stories to tell.|We spent 3 nights, could have stayed a month.

The cabin is at the edge of Hope and lies very romantic in the forest and you can be really on your own. In case you need something, the owner´s house can be reached via a little footbridge over a small creek. The cabin provides everything you need (fully kitchen, TV with DVD player (no TV reception, but who needs this in this area) and is on really high standard, very clean and well maintained. Ideal for kids are the upstairs beds, which looks a bit like a bear cove.||Maggie is a very warm-hearted person and we wished we had more time to talk to her and listen to her stories. She was the first woman in the dual profession of police and fire in the 1970's in Anchorage, serving at the airport and she wrote a very interesting book about it. Although we are Germans and English is not our mother language it is easy and enjoyable to read.||The Cabin is close to the public free gold panning area at Resurrection Creek and Maggie provided us with the neccessary Equipments (Shovel and pans), but we were not successful. You can reach the cabin via a very well maintained gravel road.

If I had to conjure up a cabin in the woods, this place would meet and far exceed my expectations. Hope, Alaska, is a quirky little town with a year round population of 150. This cabin is warm, comfortable and tastefully decorated. An upstairs sleeping loft provides extra space for kids. If you are looking for an off the beaten path location to relax and enjoy the true beauty of Alaska, Hope is the town and Bkack Bear Bed and Breakfast is the place.

The Black Bear B & B was the perfect place for my husband and I and two friends before a hike on the Palmer Creek Trail. The living/dining room is quite spacious and comfortable for four people to hang out. There is a queen bed downstairs and a loft with two single beds. The refrigerator and cupboards were stocked with coffee, milk, juice, oatmeal, cereal, and yogurt. There is also a nice gas grill which we used to grill steaks. Maggie, the proprietor, is a delight.
