Best Western Plus Ocean View Resort - Seaside, Oregon

We booked a top floor ocean view room for my daughter’s birthday. Check-in is 4:00, we arrived at 4:15, after driving for 3 hours. Upon check-in, we were informed VIA EMAIL (as we were pulling into the parking lot) that our reservation had been cancelled despite proving we had plentiful funds and a confirmation email. We did not receive a phone call, we received an email- at 4:00 (check in time). After showing the concierge our confirmation email and bank statement showing that we had, indeed, already paid and the reservation was confirmed several days prior, we were told that our room was already given to someone else (within 15 mintutes) but were offered a different room on the ground floor (for the same price). The front desk agent seemed to do the bare minimum by offering subpar alternatives and acting as if she was bothered by doing her job. Albeit, I don’t believe it was her fault that the hotel failed so miserably. She, personally, did the best she could. Since we had traveled so far already, we accepted that room. We paid a good amount of money for a sea of grass view in a hotel undergoing extreme renovations, and no privacy from the visitors wandering nearby. Luckily, we were offered a discount and delayed checkout- we did not utilized the delayed checkout due to their proven shoddy business practices. We were awoken early each morning (around 6am) by loud noises on the ground floor we were assigned, directly next to the makeshift front desk. Breakfast is not complimentary and not cheap. TVs provide basic cable but are not “smart” and cannot connect to devices. We mostly provided our own toiletries and towels as what was provided was insufficient. There was no fan in the bathroom, the dishwasher was unsteady and unable to be safely, and there is no air conditioning. The clumps of hair were so apparent in the pool that I did not feel comfortable allowing my daughter to swim in it. Maintenance and cleaning should be done regularly. On the upside, the room was fairly clean, and the location was satisfactory. It is my belief that the hotel would make more money from last-minute reservations rather than pre-booked reservations and that is why our reservation was cancelled. Lastly, the GM here seems to praise good reviewers and discredit valid concerns made by dissatisfied guests, rather than acknowledge areas in which they can improve. This is our 4th stay at a Best Western location and there have been nothing but problems, so therefore it will be our last. If you’re looking for an oceanfront hotel while staying in Seaside, I would implore you to look at ALL your options.

This place is a scam. I booked directly from the hotel website a jucuzzi ocean view suite and paid the corresponding hefty fee for my boyfriend's birthday which was his first time to seaside. What a great idea right? WRONG i was placed in a downgraded room with no jucuzzi. The website clearly states the pricing of all rooms even with differential rates and the cost i paid was CLEARLY for a jucuzzi king size ocean view. There are too many competitors with better views, locations, and pricing. It wouldn't make sense to pay 3 times as much for a downgraded room. Not to mention this place is under construction creating a less then ideal experience. After bringing this to the hotel attention they did not acknowledge there mistake or refund me the difference. Mind you we drove 3 hours to this location.

In response to below. If anyone would like a laugh of disappoint go on and reserve the jucuzzi suite directly from the hotel website.The next screen ask for payment to reserve. Most websites list the reservation in full when asking payment but this hotel does not. Next you get a email confirming a different room. You just got scamed paying 3 times the amount for a down graded room, even though the prices CEARLY can prove what you indeed paid for. Fair warning to all. It is not worth the risk

This was our first stay in years. We were surprised to be able to get a last minute overnight stay during spring break. |They were under lobby construction, but everything was easy to navigate. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Check in and out were easy.|Room was very comfortable, and we loved it was only blocks to the main street in Seaside|The cafe looks great although we only went for coffee but will definitely check it out on our next visit (which we are already planning)

I know they are trying to update this property, but since it was a Beat Western PLUS, I expected more. There is no lounge, except for a small cafeteria that will serve you very limited drinks. The cafe has a good breakfast menu, but super limited dinner. The towels in the room were good for exfoliating, but not at all soft. Toilet paper was one-ply. No need to go into details on why that was disappointing. The TV loses connection quite often. We weren’t welcomed as Platinum members upon arrival and didn’t get our complimentary bottles of water. Cleaning people were very pleasant and most of the front desk folks were great. Probably would not stay here again, but the only hotels that look nicer, are not on the beach.

Positive: Love the room, it was spacious and clean also the staff was helpful and friendly. We love the location too. The attached restaurant is wonderful. We love how you can have a nice sit down meal or grab some things to go. A great family friendly place! Negative: Not really except the ventilation in the pool area. Just a bit stuffy.

For an older property pretty well maintained. The pictures of what our room was supposed to be, included a nice glass walk in shower. Instead it was a standard tub with shower head and shower curtain. The ad says fireplace. It is a pretend fireplace that generates zero heat.
Unlike most chains that have evening cookies or other treats, they offer nothing. Where many chains offer a free continental breakfast, they give you a coupon for $5 off of a $20 or more purchase in their breakfast nook.
Not a bad place, but in the future there are a number of national brands of hotels that we will use as opposed to staying at a Best Western Plus

This was kind of a last minute get away trip for 1 night during spring break. Able to find a room, hooray. This is just a few blocks off the main Seaside activity street. So walkable to anything you want to do. Sits right on the promenade, so easy beach access. It is under construction, but that wasn't an issue. Staff was very friendly, rooms were great. Will stay here again. Has a really great Café with sit down or to go options. It's dog friendly also!

Loved vacationing here. Staff was excellent & very accommodating. The kids enjoyed the pool & hot tubs. We loved our view from 202. Everything was top notch aside from the remodeling & the smoke alarm.
