Located at 16200 Sierra Hwy, Mojave, CA 93501, this hotel offers a blend of standard amenities and a surprisingly pleasant experience, despite a specific consideration regarding its location. The hotel’s telephone number is 18243601, and visitors can find more detailed information and book directly through the Best Western website: bestwestern.com.

Hotel Overview and Amenities

Best Western Desert Winds operates as a Hotel, providing a range of services designed to cater to the needs of diverse travelers. It's generally recognized as a clean and well-maintained property, offering a familiar Best Western experience. The hotel typically features standard room configurations, ensuring guests have adequate space for rest and relaxation. While the facilities may not be extravagant, they are consistently reliable and provide a comfortable stay.

Strategic Location and Considerations

The hotel's location in Mojave, California, is a key factor to understand. It’s situated along Sierra Highway, a prominent thoroughfare in the area. However, a significant aspect of the location warrants careful consideration – its proximity to the railway line. Guests should be aware that the train tracks run directly alongside the hotel, and the sound of passing trains can be noticeable, particularly during the night. Approximately every hour, trains traverse the tracks, generating a considerable amount of noise. While many guests, including those who sleep soundly, have reported sleeping through the noise, individuals with heightened sensitivity to sound – particularly those who are light sleepers – should be aware of this potential disruption. As noted by several previous guests, the other hotels situated on the same street, directly opposite the railroad, share this same location-related challenge. This isn’t necessarily a detriment to the overall experience, but it’s a crucial detail to factor into the decision-making process.

Positive Aspects and Guest Feedback

Despite the railway issue, numerous guests have praised the hotel’s customer service. Specific mentions of staff members like Angee have highlighted the welcoming and helpful attitude of the team. This positive interaction contributes significantly to the overall guest satisfaction. Furthermore, the hotel provides a good, hot breakfast spread each morning, offering a convenient and satisfying start to the day. The breakfast is consistently described as a highlight of the stay, providing guests with a substantial meal to fuel their explorations.

Further Details and Recommendations

The hotel’s website and Google My Business listing offer a wealth of information, including photographs of the rooms and common areas. It’s recommended that potential guests review these resources to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the property. The hotel’s internet access is generally reliable, facilitating connectivity for business travelers and those seeking to stay connected with loved ones. Parking is readily available on-site, ensuring guests can easily access their vehicles. The hotel’s proximity to several local attractions, including Mojave Air & Space Port, makes it a convenient base for exploring the region. The average opinion rating is 4.2/5, reflecting a generally positive assessment of the hotel’s offerings.

Summary

Best Western Desert Winds provides a reliable and conveniently located hotel experience in Mojave, California. While the proximity to the railway line presents a potential consideration for light sleepers, the positive customer service, complimentary breakfast, and overall cleanliness contribute to a worthwhile stay. It's an ideal choice for travelers seeking a comfortable and practical base for exploring the surrounding area.

Great customer service here (thank you Angee!) and a good, hot breakfast spread in the morning. Only downside (and can't fault the hotel on this one) is the proximity of the railroad. At night it was maybe an hourly occurrence of very loud trains. I'm a heavy sleeper so I slept through it, but light sleepers should consider staying in California City. All the nearby hotels here in Mojave were on the same street opposite the railroad

Our room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. There is a nearby train track, but my room was far enough away from the tracks that I wasn’t awakened once by a train. I plan to stay here again when traveling to visit family in San Diego.

This place is an absolute Godsend. From calling at 3am to see if there’s any availability, to checking in with Dwayne, to breakfast everyone was so incredibly accommodating and seemed genuinely happy to serve their guests. It’s clean. Really clean. And it’s by far one of the cheapest hotels we’ve stayed at on any of our drives between Boise and San Diego. Thank you so, so much. This might be our new route. 🤣

Well maintained and very clean property. Would definitely stay there again when in the area. Dinning area well maintained and very clean, the breakfast attendant promptly replenished items and kept the area spick and span, she was awesome.

Very attentive workers, especially Dwayne at the front desk. He allowed us to book at 3 am, the room was updated and clean, outside palm trees were nicely lit up, pool looked amazingly clean.

Comfortable bed, nice pool and hot tub. Air-conditioning worked well. My only issue was the lights for the bathroom and vanity are on motion timers and shut off too soon and the heat lamp always turns on automatically, which no one wants.

This pet friendly hotel is a great place to stay on a road trip. Granted the surroundings are a bit industrial, but it was very quiet at night. The room was perfect as it had just been renovated. The hotel staff was very sweet and the room rates were great. Some places charge $75 a night for a pet. This hotel charged $20. That makes it truly pet friendly. It's not a luxury hotel, but it was clean, comfortable and pet-friendly. Great for a night on the road.

It was 115F when we stayed there on 7/5/2024. These new style AC units that will run solid until to turn them back on four hours later are amazing. Compared to ripping apart the hotel Amana for a $300+ a night room so you don't have to sleep in 78F weather in your room. I would rather sleep in my car. Anyway's Stayed here and slept well and cold.
