My recent two-night stay (Jan 2025) at this Santa Cruz hotel was essentially a rip-off. While the rooms were nice enough, the pricing was outrageous, especially given the near-zero occupancy. I saw only two other cars in the parking lot during my entire stay. Here is the story: My Thursday-Friday night was $129+tax, which jumped to $179+tax for Friday-Saturday, even though the hotel was still empty. This dramatic price hike in an almost empty hotel is unacceptable. Don't be fooled by the higher Google rating, the management should not get away with these practices. You can only book this hotel through their own website, so the price change is not coming from a third-party broker. This place is overpriced and preys on those seeking some rest and seclusion. Find somewhere else, for instance the Best Western Plus up the street: similar room quality, more amenities, and considerably less expensive.

We made a last minute decision to come to Santa Cruz for a few days. I did a quick search for hotels and found this place. The price seemed reasonable so I did not now what to expect. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, clean, and had all of the amenities we needed. Also, Ben at the front desk is the man. Whenever we needed anything he took the time to help us, both in person and over the phone. I cannot recommend this place enough.

I couldn't believe how nice my room was!!! Nice work area, very comfy love seat, fireplace and super comfortable king bed. I would have expected this amount of luxury to be twice the price. Two block walk to the uncrowded beach and plenty of restaurants to choose from

Our experience with Bella Notte's customer service fell short of expectations. Despite making our reservation online and promptly receiving a confirmation email, our anticipation for the trip was soon met with disappointment. It turned out that, 30 minutes after booking, we received a cancellation email. Regrettably, we hadn't checked our email for a day and a half after receiving the initial confirmation, as we assumed our reservation was confirmed. This lack of proactive communication left us dismayed, especially when the email revealed our room had been double-booked due to a system error.||When we called for help, the front desk offered us alternative accommodations for two nights, but at a higher cost. We tried to negotiate, suggesting they stick to the original price since it was their mistake, but they couldn't budge. They said they'd pass our concerns to management.||Later, we got a call back, but it wasn't good news. The owner was too busy to talk, and they couldn't honor the original price. If we still wanted to stay, we'd have to switch rooms and pay more.||Mistakes happen, we get it. But when they do, a little effort to make things right goes a long way. And a phone call wouldn't have hurt either. We're not blaming the front desk staff - they were doing their best. But the way management handled it? Not cool. When you mess up, own it, and try to fix it.

I have stayed at several hotels in Santa Cruz over the years and have now stayed at Bella Notte twice. The rooms are clean, the location is excellent and parking is easy. Housekeeping also came reliably everyday (as opposed to another place I stayed down the road that was never cleaned the 3 days I was there. I highly recommend.

This place is not as good as it used to be. I don’t think the beds are as comfortable. Maybe they’re getting old. The carpet is getting some stains. I think they are buying bamboo sheets now which I find scratchy and hot. Maybe it was always like this but they have heavy blankets which are not warm. I think they should have comforters that are lightweight and cozy. We stayed in January so we were cold we made the mistake of not bringing our own blanket which we have done in the past and that helped a lot. The time before last when we came to this hotel, there was a bunch of construction and it took us 20 minutes to drive two blocks. The manager had neglected to call me to let me know about the situation so fortunately he canceled our reservation. Then I had to scurry and find another place that would take us. Nobody was answering their phones, so we had to drive around and find a place. It was very stressful. The place we ended up staying at was easily twice as expensive, but it did have a very comfortable bed and nice bedding. Maybe I got spoiled!

Very spacious and comfortable rooms, and great service from both the desk staff and the cleaning staff. Rooms were clean, well-maintained, and stocked with a nice basket of complementary snacks. Location is excellent - 5 min walk to the beach, solid taqueria around the corner, etc

This was my favorite hotel on our PCH trip (we stayed 7 different places). The service was amazing and it had a cozy feel while also being exceptionally clean and luxurious. We had room on first floor and it was quiet, AC worked perfectly, and room was huge! Heated bathroom floors were a first for me! It was so refreshing to have complementary snacks, drinks and parking when many other places we stayed charged extra for everything. I wish I could remember the name of the man in the office but he was so nice and helped get us towels for the beach, directions to the beach and restaurants, and always went above and beyond to help us. Would recommend 100% and would absolutely come back here if I find myself in Santa Cruz again. Just lovely.
