Bear Rocks Preserve - Davis, West Virginia

Fabulous!!! Well worth the drive to loop. Along the way the road was lined with wonderful pollinators attracting many butterflies and bees. As you travel the road to the parking lot the views continuously improve making each photo better than the last. Parking lot provided plenty of space. Loop was an easy hike and very enjoyable. The views are stunningly beautiful. Visibility for miles upon miles. Rocks provided fun photo opportunities. First half of the loop is clearly marked and easy to follow. Can’t say the same for the second half. Definitely leads you out to what feels like the middle of nowhere. The other visitors out and about in the rock areas seemed to disappear on second half of walk. Continue out of the trail by taking lefts when the trails split to return to parking lot. Highly recommend this preserve. There are so many great hiking trails at Dolly Sods. I definitely want to try them out on future visits.

Beautiful preserve in the Monongahela National Forest. We came up to hike, it was the day after Hurricane Debbie. There was plenty of parking as we were here early in the morning. We hiked the Bear Rocks, Dobbin Grade and Beaver Dam Trail Loop. The trail started off dry but quickly became muddy and wet. Even though the trail was not ideal we were extremely pleased with our hike. We saw lots of wildlife and only passed one person on the trail the whole time we were out. The weather started off slightly chilly but quickly warmed up. It was a beautiful hike and so peaceful. Happy trails!!!

Gorgeous, but be warned, the road to get there is rough at best. Take your time, and enjoy the views!

It's was a very WINDY invigorating day! The sky was blue! Big white fluffy clouds were cruising over me! Typically, the ground was wet and marshy! Stay on the trail!

Awesome. The drive up was fun. If you're scared of dirt roads, you might be a little nervous but it's as well maintained as any forest road. Even on a cool, rainy day there were a few other people. Views are wonderful, and hiking out on the rocks was easy.

A unique and spectacular environment where a windswept high elevation climate yields a wonderful experience. You can sit on the sculpted rocks and view many ridgetops over looking an incredible expanse.

We watched a beautiful sunset from bear rocks! We didn’t venture further but the views from bear rocks were fantastic. Plenty of parking in the lot or along the road. We had a fantastic time watching and listening to the birds at dusk. It was busier during the day but not too many people as the day went on.
