Went on the Simply Amazing Sitka tour while on a cruise for my dad’s birthday. The six members of the family ranging from 17 to 80 all had a great time. Our tour guide Christian was so pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. The three locations we visited were interesting and fun. If you love animals you will definitely enjoy it. The tour departs and returns downtown which was convenient and we still had time to explore the town before having to get back on the ship. The price was also cheaper than the cruise line and we had no concerns with getting back to our boat on time. Highly recommend.

Took the Bears, Raptors and Totems tour. This weas booked via a third party. Location to meet and communication once in town was great. The tour was guide Mike was so informative and very passionate and knowledgeable. He even dropped us all off at the cruise dock so we didn't have to take the shuttle. The highlights were the Raptor Centre and Fortress of the Bears. Great to see these animals up close.

I did a whale watching tour, they did give a disclaimer that it wasn’t guaranteed that we’d see anything. But wow, we ended up seeing a lot of things. The whales came up to our boat, unfortunately I didn’t take a picture because I really wanted to take in the moment and it was fast. We saw a bear coming out of hibernation that was looking for food. Our tour guide was very friendly and provided lots of information, binoculars and snacks. The tour was a small group so it was easy to accommodate everyone.

We really enjoyed our experience with Baranof Tours. Myself and two friends booked the Bears, Raptors & Totems tour for our day in Sitka. I had some questions beforehand, and also was a bit nervous about our ship letting us off in time to meet up with our tour group. Tad was wonderfully responsive in answering my questions and also eased my fears about our arrival. Everything went off without a hitch the day of our tour. We had Gretchen as our guide; she was very informative and a lot of fun. I absolutely loved seeing the bears at Fortress of the Bear, and the National Historic Park is just gorgeous. Gretchen showed us wild huckleberries, a giant eagle's nest, and interpreted a totem for us, which was incredibly interesting. We chose to stay longer at the park and walk back to town on our own.

I will issue one word of caution, if you are a larger sized individual their vans are on the smaller side. If you are bigger you will want to nab one of seats in the front or middle, you will not fit in the very back. I tried to squeeze between the back two seats to sit in the last row with one of my friends and I could not fit between the seats, thankfully there was a vacant seat in the middle row. Whew! Otherwise though, great tour run by great people.

Hopped off the cruise ship a little later than most and felt we probably missed an opportunity to organise any tours.

Then we stumbled across a private bus tour by Baranof Tours taking in the Alaska Raptor Centre, Fortress of the Bear and Sitka National Historical Park. Very reasonably priced too.

We left the pick-up point at 14:30 and at the end were driven back to the terminal, which was a nice touch.

If you’re as lucky as we were, you might get Christian as your driver. A lovely chap, who lives on a wee island at the town coast line.
Having Christian walk and talk us around each site was Gold.

We got so much more from Sitka than we had expected.

Private bus for us and 3 other couples. It was perfect.

Looking for quick easy way to get around Sitka this tour is a great way to venture around. (Also on the cheaper in compared to the cruise line offers)

Super friendly meetup at the information center (also where you are dropped off if you our on a cruise)

Get to see all the Major hits everyone talks about when going to Sitka- Raptor center, fortress of the bear 🐻, and Sitka- Historic Park

Along with the tour we had Roy (Driver and Guide) he brings a lot of good information about the local area and can pretty much answer any questions you have.

Highly recommend this tour if you're on time restriction.

We took The Amazing Sitka tour with Jim as our tour guide. We visited the national park, Fortress of the Bears, and the Raptor Center. Jim was very knowledgeable with his information of Sitka and the 3 places we visited. Tour was a small group with a personalized feel which is highly recommended! This was a much better tour than the one I took through the cruise line last year in Sitka where we had maybe 40 in the group.

We had a great time with Gretchen on our tour yesterday! She made sure that our group was taken care of including picking us up at the ship when some of us got stuck in the line trying to get a shuttle to town. She was very knowledgeable and very thoughtful and kind. Our group of 10 would highly recommend Baranof Tours if you are visiting Sitka. They made sure we were back to our ship with plenty of time to spare!
