Absolutely fabulous experience from beginning to end! I made this my last stop on a trip to visit relatives. I needed some lunch before hitting the road. Aunt Chilada's had always been one of my favorite restaurants in Arizona when I lived there. As usual, they did not disappoint. It was a beautiful day, so I sat on the patio to enjoy the sun. The menu is filled with deliciousness, making it hard to choose one entrée. I settled on three different types of enchiladas...phenomenal flavor! Their homemade chips and salsa are also to die for! I love them so much that I ordered two portions to go just to indulge some of my friends and family back in Nevada. The service was nothing less than stellar, too. If you are ready for one of the best culinary establishments in Phoenix, then drop in to the Dreamy Draw neighborhood for some of the best Mexican food you will ever taste!

We were staying nearby, and the hotel offered rides to this restaurant. It was happy hour and this place was packed. Sadly, they only had one person working the entire restaurant as far as I could tell, and she was working her butt off doing her best. They had a $5 margarita, and it was made just right, so we had a couple. I ordered off the happy hour menu and look how big the tacos and nachos are. Ridiculous, wife had seafood enchiladas. The whole thing was a great experience, and we will be back. The chips and salsa were worth the trip. The chips were so dang delicious

The food was delicious, service fast and friendly, and atmosphere was fun. This is one of the oldest restaurants in Arizona and we got to learn the fascinating history of it. The salsa was fresh and flavorful and the prickly pear margarita was great. I had a build your own platter with three different items and each were good. Portions were generous.

I visited Aunt Chiladas after two friends recommended it, both recalling how great the restaurant was a few years ago. They hadn’t been back in a while, but based on their enthusiasm, I decided to give it a try. I arrived at around 4:15 pm, during happy hour, which runs from 11 am to 6 pm, though seating for happy hour is limited to the bar area.

My waitress, Midia, was friendly and attentive, although she seemed quite busy. After sitting for a bit, I started to wonder where the chips and salsa were, as I assumed they would come automatically. Just as I was about to ask, Midia brought them without me needing to request it, which was a pleasant surprise. She also brought my Prickly Pear Margarita, which looked a little different from what I expected but tasted fantastic. Sam, the bartender, made me a strawberry margarita and two classic margaritas later on, and all of them were well-crafted. One thing I noticed is that the margaritas are all made fresh; there’s no option for frozen, but that wasn’t an issue for me as everything tasted great.

However, my food experience wasn’t quite as enjoyable. I ordered the sour cream chicken enchiladas, and while it wasn’t terrible, there was an odd taste that I couldn’t quite place, which made me think something might have been frozen. The rice was particularly disappointing—it was dry and hard, which made the meal feel a bit lacking. It wasn’t something I would order again.

After spending some time in the bar area, I moved to the dining area, where I was attended by Mari. She, like Midia, was friendly and checked in frequently, but the staff overall seemed rushed, likely due to how busy the bar area was. Speaking of the bar, the seating there was uncomfortable. The high chairs and small round tables were wobbly and cramped, so I eventually moved to the bar itself for a more comfortable experience.

In terms of the atmosphere, the dining area initially appeared clean, but when I glanced up, I noticed that the air vents were covered in dust—a sign that some aspects of cleanliness had been overlooked. My friend, who had been here years ago, pointed out that the three sisters who own the restaurant weren’t around, which could explain the drop in both food quality and cleanliness. It felt like the restaurant, though still large and visually appealing, could benefit from more attention to detail, both in terms of the food and the upkeep of the space.

While Aunt Chiladas has potential and clearly has a loyal customer base, my experience left me feeling that it needs some serious improvement. From the odd flavors in the food to the cleanliness issues, it seems like the restaurant may have lost some of the quality it once had. The staff were kind and attentive, and the margaritas were excellent, but these positives were overshadowed by the less-than-ideal food and atmosphere.

Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience, but it wasn’t great either. I hope to see some improvements, as this restaurant has the potential to be much better. I may give it another chance in the future, but for now, it seems like Aunt Chiladas has some work to do.

Oh, where do I even begin with this place! Google sent me here, and I've never been more grateful for an online recommendation. This spot was PACKED on a Tuesday night. Yes, you heard that right: a Tuesday. If that doesn’t tell you how good it is, let me continue.

From the moment I sat down, I knew I was in for something special. A lovely gentleman immediately came over with a huge bowl of salsa and chips and I mean HUGE. This was no dainty serving; it was a “prepare to get full on this complimentary goodness” kind of deal, and it came with an ice-cold glass of water. The service here is top-notch, people. Michelin-star-level training, I swear. Give that team a raise!

Now, let’s talk about the food. I ordered the shrimp stuffed pineapple and a chicken quesadilla, and let me tell you, that pineapple was an absolute masterpiece. Fresh, juicy, loaded with shrimps, and drizzled with the most heavenly sauce like it was plucked straight from the tree and delivered to my plate. No crazy spices, just pure, fresh flavors that hit the spot.

And then, when I was way too full to even look at the quesadilla, my fantastic server had it boxed up for me, no questions asked. Efficient, friendly, and so thoughtful! And because I don’t drink alcohol, he made sure I didn’t leave without a virgin piña colada. When I couldn’t finish it, he even got me a to go cup. That’s service!

I left feeling like the happiest, most stuffed customer in the world. If you’re debating going, stop debating. Just go. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

Fun casual spot, popular with tourists. Food was ok but the table service was extremely slow. We had to ask several times for help in getting our items.
On the other hand, service directly at the bar on the same day was pretty quick. I needed to grab a take-out order after dining with friends, and that was taken care of faster than just getting any service at a table.

Best food of our vacation. This is an absolute must. An old historical house from the 1890s with great ambiance and spectacular food. Had the fajitas - out of sight, best I’ve ever had anywhere! Alyssa, our server, was fantastic! Great prices. Do not pass this place up!
