The area is really nice with lots of woody forests around the lake. Please know that the lake is privately owned, and no visitors can get in the lake at any point. Plan accordingly!

Today around 4:50 me and my family were HARASSED by a middle aged white woman with a ponytail that worked there. She consistently kept asking for our membership card, when we showed her our card she said it was fake and didn’t belong there. I consistently tried to deescalate the situation but she kept on persisting for us to leave. I would also like to add that me and my family are people of color and my father has a Spanish accent. We also saw that we were the only people approached. We decided to leave because she said she would call the sheriff and give us a ticket. She also made us walk a COMPLETELY different direction from where we parked causing us to walk one mile to our car. Would not recommend to someone who isn’t white or is white passing. 0/10 experience. Will be telling other club members. HOPEFULLY she is fired after this horrible experience, praying that no other people of color are discriminated how my family was.

The ALA has had it's ups and downs and fair share of issues, but I'm very happy with the direction it's currently headed. Long time local, Brian Hall, is now on the board and really has the community, especially the younger community who makes up the majority population of the residents now, in his best interest. With his leadership, the lake recently hosted a "fishing rodeo" in Tavern Bay. They stocked hundreds of beautiful, large trout in the bay, some up to ten pounds, and invited all the ALA members kids to come down and fish the bay. There were tons of kids and the fishing was red hot. The smallest we caught was 14 inches! The lake overall is the jewel of southern California. The fishing is truly world class for small and large mouth bass and trout. I hope the ALA continues to manage the lake with the incredible fishery in mind for decades to come.

Amazing location in the mountains just a bit outside of Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Private lake with a great amount of activities for the young and the young at heart. Water-skiing m, sailing, wake-boarding, fishing, fireworks, running, 4x4ing. Also works well as a base to hit the local ski slopes at Snow Valley, Snow Summit and Bear Mountain. Several restaurants to select from in the village.

If you don’t want holiday makers then just close the lake to them. If you do, don’t make the process to visit so painful and the people who work for you so unwelcoming. Beautiful place, full of little gatekeepers.

Beautiful lake but very confusing to access for day use. It’s definitely more for ala members and local residents. Not much beach area is available for day use, and you better have a day use wrist band (10$ per person) or the local ala, clip board carrying, lake beach, trail stalking, lady Catherine will kindly ask you and your little ones to pack up your chairs and floaters and move on. Looking at the lake is free, but you definitely can’t touch. Do your homework before visiting for sure.

This white old lady with a ponytail that works there harassed me and my family!! We showed her our membership cards but kept telling us we didn’t belong there. She followed us everywhere and wouldn’t leave us alone. She kept threatening us by calling the police so we left because we didn’t want problems and she kept bugging us. POC watch out before this white lady harasses you.
