A great place to view the natural high desert landscape. The staff were real friendly and they've got some nice souvenirs too! No poppies when I stopped by, but it's even better when they're in bloom.

The AV Poppy Reserve is a great location to view and learn about the native California Poppy and a variety of other native flowers and wild life. The trails meandering throughout the reserve provide a more personal experience that photographs cannot match. Add to this the vistas of the local mountains (often snow capped in early spring) and views of the mostly untouched landscape bordering the reserve. Plan for a mid to late morning visit in spring on a less windy day for the best experience.

great place to walk, except it was INSANELY windy when we went on 5/23. visitor center was definitely closed (we were the ONLY car in the parking lot) and there weren’t really any poppy fields, just pitiful little patches here and there getting beaten up by the wind. so i guess we unfortunately missed the super bloom but it’s fine because they have a really nice pair of Joshua trees right outside the visitor center. lots of lizards but no flowers so we should have checked the poppy camera on the website.

Review for March 27th 2022. I came by today to visit the California golden poppies. While here, I stopped by at the Antelope Valley Visitor Center. Which I am happy to announce that they are finally opened. At the visitor center, you can get information about the local Wildlife as well as the full blooms for the California poppies. The staff here is very friendly and very courteous. Thank you Bob for the pamphlet in order for me to find my way to the closest trails. I really appreciate the customer service today as well as this place being open.

This years superbloom was super. These hills could be seen for miles, the color was awesome. We were glad we went mid-week as it gets very CROWDED and you might have to wait for parking. There were miles of well maintained trails throughout the hills. It's important to STAY ON THE TRAILS and not wander into the flowers as it not only kills them but there are rattlesnakes relaxing in them. I hope we get another bloom like this in 2020.

Valley with hills where it is possible to see the poppey. You have to choose the right moment in order to enjoy the best effect. There are paths that it is better to follow in order to not meet the rattlesnakes living among the bushes. The parking costs 10 usd. There are toilettes but, apart from this, nothing else in terms of bars or restaurants. In a shop it is possible to buy some post cards showing the place at its best. Friendly staff.
