On Memorial weekend we had the honor to visit this incredible site. It is about 1.5 hours from DC. You start your tour at the visitor center. Definitely don't rush to the site before listening to the ranger about the history and significance of each place. They run every hour. After that, you proceed in your car to different historic sites. So beautiful landscape and preserved sites. Our parents who cannot do long walk this was perfect. It is a drive-through car. You can stop and get out at numerous stops.

One of my favorite battlefields to visit. I go often enough that I have an annual pass. While the museum is small, it houses so much history. If you have a love of Civil War history, it is a must. The park rangers are friendly and knowledgeable. There's so much to see and learn at this battlefield.

The entire experience was well curated. You pay for the experience at the Welcome center where you can watch a documentary about the battlefield, check out the observatory and walk through the museum. There is a giftshop as well if you are wanting any keepsakes. The self drive tour is well marked. There are many statues and memorials to see in between each stop. There are areas to park at each one. If you like to walk, there are trails too. I spent approximately 3-4 hours here. I would have liked to have walked some trails but it was too cold and I had a 1 year old with me. I recommend packing snacks or a lunch as there was not a convenient place to grab a bite during my time there. Overall a great experience with many memories made.

Beautifully preserved piece of American history. I can’t describe the feeling it gives you to see where history took place. Not only is this place historically awesome, the grass is so green and lush. There are so many amazing statues honoring those who fought. This is a must see! I definitely want to go back sometime.

Take a walk back in history. It is well explained in the film in the visitor center. The property has alot of monuments and memorials. It is so sad to know what occurred there and to step into the place where it happened, but it really makes you appreciate how and why our country is what it is today.

Great wealth of information about the battle can be gained by starting at the visitors center. Watch the 27 minute film before your journey. Get the map for an 11 point self drive tour around Antietam and Sharpsburg. Very well done, great on a spring midday. Highly recommend.

We highly suggest you visit. Take walks, do the driving tour and visit the museum first. There is a history of the battle movie to watch and often Park Rangers give talks in the beautiful observation area. Climb the tower too, the view is amazing. Give yourself 2 to 4 hours if you are a history buff.

It would be difficult to not give this 5 stars. The museum, while small! Has a ton of great info and artifacts.

The battle fields are well cared for. The info along the tour is nice, and the view from the tower is awesome.
