Alice Bay is in a lovely location. I would have preferred a bit more privacy, but I chose the guest quarters for the waterfront location. For those who are unaware, you will need to walk outside (undercover) between the summer kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. I didn’t fully understand the layout prior to booking and would have appreciated more clarity on that aspect of the guest quarters. I did enjoy watching herons, eagles, ducks, and beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Julie and Terry were attentive hosts. My biggest disappointment stemmed from my expectation of easier/safer access to the water. There were some irregular steps made of railroad ties (no railing or supports) and a steep ramp down to a dock (no adhesive non-slip material or any type of railing). To be fair, there was a faded sticker at ground level stating that the ramp could be slippery. I slid 20 feet down the steep ramp and then fell several feet onto the beach, sustaining multiple injuries. I appreciate that the hosts drove me to urgent care, but they have refused to either update their website wording to better clarify the risks inherent in using their waterfront or to address the safety risks. As a result, I feel obligated to make potential future guests aware. Had I understood that the waterfront access wasn’t to code, I certainly wouldn’t have booked in the wintertime and likely would have chosen another location altogether.

We stayed for 3 nights and left so relaxed! The summer kitchen met all of our needs, and we enjoyed watching the eagles/seals/herons, playing cards, and ready in the cozy warmth. Love the window wall! The bedroom was spacious with lots of blankets, and the bathroom had all we needed. The entire place was very clean, and the WiFi was strong.

Julie was so kind and welcoming and checked in on us daily and delivered fresh coffee and even home made banana bread! We didn’t get the use the row boat but will if we’re able to come back. We’ve already recommended the place and hope to return!
