My stay at Ridgewood Lodge was unparalleled. It is a beautiful location full of beautiful people. The food was incredible, the area, the wilderness and nature was phenomenal, and Kevin and Lucinda are great hosts who go out of their way to accommodate your every need, with flexibility to what you want to do during your stay. I cannot reccommend this lodge hihgly enough for your alaskan excursion

It's without a doubt the best hotel I've ever stayed in. This is because the Sidelinger family made me feel like I was in my own home and not in a hotel. Located in a simply wonderful place. Ideal for those who love nature and want to get away from the city. The hotel is in perfect harmony with nature and offers moments of pure peace. Meals are prepared with great care and shared between owners and guests, welcoming us as if we were in our own homes. The excursions included in the price of the stay are very good. Each trail is more beautiful than the last. I can only thank you for the warmth with which I was received and yes, I highly recommend this hotel and intend to return as soon as possible.

The Sidelingers made this portion of our Alaskan vacation absolutely amazing! They were instrumental is helping us find the perfect activities that we were interested in and then to make all of the necessary arrangements. They communicated with us throughout our booking experience so that we had no surprises and knew just what to expect all along the way. Their very comfortable home accommodated our family with ease from delicious meals, well packed take-away lunches and easy pickup/dropoff from Homer. We highly recommend the Ridgewood Lodge and are grateful to the Sidelingers for making us feel so much a part of their wonderful family!

1. This not a wilderness lodge. It is within walking distance of Halibut Cove which is a big tourist attractions with shops and art studios.
2. The food, advertised as gourmet , is second rate and skimpy. There are no choices, no drinks, no bread.
3. The flannel sheets on my bed were so old and pilly that I had to ask for them to be changed.
4. For $!200 dollars a night per person there are no toiletries in the bathroom.
5. Grandpa picks his teeth after dinner.
6. Without asking, or informing, grace is said at meals.
7. I have travelled the world slept in tents, teepees, hostels, high end hotels. Never have I felt to have been ripped off as I was at Ridgewood.

What an incredible way to experience Alaska! The warm welcome of the Sidelinger Family and breathtaking views of nature were such a joy to experience. The host family is so knowledgeable of the area as they have lived here for three generations now. Our first excursion was a fishing trip where we quickly limited on King Salmon and Halibut. After we limited on these we still had time to whale watch and saw several tails diving into the ocean! The next day Kevin led us on a beautiful hike through the saddle of the mountainside toward a glacier lake. We were able to float on this beautiful lake with huge chunks of glacier ice and take in all of the history of the area. The next day we took a small plane into uninhabited national forest and were able to see several bears, a wolf, swans, a moose, eagles, snowy volcanoes and unimaginable scenery. This was followed by charming hikes through Halibut Cove, meeting locals who are friends of the Sidelingers, and numerous stories of the history of the area which were so fun to learn about. The lodge has so many personal touches and every piece in the lodge has a story. Kevin, Lucinda, Bowman and Jess are intentional with everything they do. Each meal was family style and prepared with so much love. My husband and I have stayed in several 5 star resorts all over the country....this was so much more than a sterile hotel or resort. This was an experience that we will treasure and will never forget.

It was so nice to e-mail and share what we wanted and the crew at Ridgewood Lodge made it happen. From the pick up from, The End of the Road in Homer, AK to the boat ride on Kachemak Bay to the buggy ride up to the The Ridgewood Lodge in Halibut Cove was a view and experience that blew our minds. The guides were respectful and knowledgeable, the sit down meals around the vast table is in my top five places to eat. What blew us away, was the way they made us feel like their family.

The Sidelingers arranged every detail of our stay and our excursions. I couldn’t have imagined a better 5 days in Alaska. Halibut, King Salmon, Glacier hiking and kayaking, Bear/Moose/Wolf/Volcano Flight Tour in a bush plane, hikes of Halibut Cove complete with bald eagles - we left nothing “in the tank” and loved every minute. Each day, they provided family style home cooked feasts for dinner, a hearty & tasty breakfast, and Lucinda always made us lunches “to go” that were far more than we could eat for every excursion. We will 100% be back and hopefully soon! The relaxing atmosphere of the actual lodge, the amazing views in every direction, and hosts that truly have their priorities in all the right places are all rare finds these days!

My father and I had a fantastic trip to the Ridgewood. We spent 2 days charter fishing and were picked up directly from the dock just a UTV ride down the hill. The food was fantastic and there is ample opportunity to explore the island or venture out further. One of my favorite activities after a long day of fishing was enjoying a drink on the front porch catching up with my dad with the Kenai Mountains in the background.
