We stayed at the newly furnished cabin at Backcountry Inn. Everything was perfect.
Cabin is impeccably decorated; kitchen was thoughtfully stocked; the view from the cabin both inside and out the balcony are the best in town. We felt like home with our stay.
Last but not least, Dana and Courtney have been wonderful from the beginning to end, with answering our inquiries timely, to being incredible hosts who are friendly and kind.
Joel was also very helpful.
We can give 6 stars if we could.
If you're coming to Lake Clark, we highly recommend Backcountry Inn.

This place is so beautiful, its hard to describe it in words or with pictures. Dana is wonderful host - really quick with emails, picked us up from the airstrip, showed us around the area, gave us a well-stocked kitchen and some good tips for hikes! Even better she got us some smores supply!! Can't wait to come back to this place and spend more time.

We enjoyed our stay here when we visited Port Alsworth in August 2023. Courtney was very responsive and thought of everything for our stay. Our kitchen was equipped with coffee, some groceries like bagels, eggs, milk, and fruit. She even made sourdough blueberry muffins for us. 😊 The bed was very comfy, and the shower was so nice after a long day of hiking in rainy weather. We were able to go out kayaking in the bay for no extra charge in the two kayaks the family owns and keeps on hand. Having WiFi was a big help since there isn't a cell signal in Port Alsworth. We were able to stay in touch with Courtney using what's app. The view of Lake Clark is spectacular!

While there is a kitchen in the suite, we just walked to the Farm Lodge for dinners each night (advanced reservations are required for that). Or we walked to get delicious burgers and milkshakes at the food truck run by the Samaritan Lodge folks. (Which is affiliated with Samaritan's Purse.) The national park visitor center is also walking distance. Courtney offered us rides, but we preferred to walk off all the calories from the milkshakes!

A stay here can be pricey, but when you factor in how remote this location is, and the proximity to beautiful Lake Clark National Park, it makes sense. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks, Courtney!

We had a wonderful 5 day stay at Alaska’s Back Country Inn. The Natwick family were welcoming, helpful and respectful of our privacy. The inn sits atop a 70 foot cliff that plunges into Lake Clark with breath taking views of the Alaska Range. Our apartment was tastefully decorated in rustic Alaskan motif. The common room has a cathedral ceiling with a galley kitchen and open dining/sitting area. Since there is no grocery store in town, it was helpful to find the kitchen well stocked with condiments, drinks, coffee and breakfast foods including cereals, eggs, bacon, pancake mix. The bedroom has a queen bed with 2 adorable sleeping cubbies built into the ceiling and reached by ladders. Bikes and kayaks were made available for us to use. We highly recommend this inn and look forward to returning!

Joel and his daughter Dana were wonderful hosts during my visit in Port Alsworth. They were fantastic from the moment I arrived till the day I left. Upon my arrival, Dana gave me guided tour of their little town, recommended hikes and places to go. Their place is very nice, clean, and quiet. I enjoyed the breakfasts and the peacefulness of their house. I felt very welcomed and am grateful for this wonderful experience. Thank you.

Alaska's Back Country Inn is a cozy little bed and breakfast run by Joel and Lisa Natwick. We found them to be excellent hosts and more than willing to provide us with expert information about the local fishing, hiking and hunting. One of the activities offered if one chooses is an exciting helicopter trip to go panning for gold or just to sight see. The mountains are breathtaking especially when experiencing them from a helicopter, snow capped and home to sure-footed dall sheep. ||Of course, one can't forget the food...Lisa is an excellent cook delivering breakfast right to your door, a true necessity before a rigorous day of excellent fishing or hiking or hunting, your choice!
