I’ve stayed in most of the hotels and Inns in Homer each summer while my husband fishes. My favorite place so far is The Alaska Beach House. We stayed in “The Captain Quarters” room which was large, nicely decorated, quality bedding and a fantastic view of the bay. I couldn’t have been more pleased! All rooms have a view of the bay. Highly recommend! I loved it!

My husband and I were delighted by our room in this guest house on a bluff over Kachemak Bay, with a fantastic view of the Kenai Mountains. This large room has huge, opening windows, allowing one to hear the waves lapping the pebble strewn beach. An easy flight of steps leads down to the beach, adjacent to the famous spit. A bald eagle perched on the spruce tree just off the attached deck. The room was hung with a trio of Brian Birdsall lithographs of Denali. Linens on the king size bed were immaculate. We only wished we could stay the entire summer.

This place is amazing. The location is great. Waking up and being able to enjoy a private and quiet view of the ocean while enjoying a cup of coffee. It’s a short distance to anywhere you would like to go. And then when you return you get to see eagles. The owners were wonderful in every way. I had considered booking elsewhere at a place in town that boasted the best view. When I ate at that place I indefinitely decided that I was so glad I didn’t fall for it and found this hidden gem. (PS. I was a guest in 2016 and ever since I’ve been meaning to leave a good review. Not having a full breakfast didn’t bother me any, your graciousness to me and my son was far superior then any full service breakfast ever could be. We were the ones who missed our flight )

Stunning view from deck of Kachemak Bay and surrounding ring of mountains. Main building features several rooms new owner is updating. We stayed in separate Eagles Nest, which we loved. Cozy, nautically themed, relaxing. On waterfront bluff, off the main drag, yet near everything.

I had a very nice room with a good view. (Kachemak Room)||Breakfast was included in the room rate. There was a good choice of bread, cereals, fruit, yogurt etc. ||Free Wifi and free coffee in the room. ||It was also great to have a fridge and a microwave. ||A pair of bald eagles was often perched in a tree very close to the property.

Booked to stay here as the accommodation had received good reviews, not too sure if the owners have changed.||Upon arriving, we had to call, to check in, given we live in Europe, this was an international call. I was informed Claudia would arrive within a few minutes, we expected her to arrive by car, in fact she was just in the adjacent cabin.||||Claudia showed me to our room. It was small but clean, although very dark. There were 3 doors to the back of the room, we expected one to be the bathroom, other wardrobe? However, one was for the bathroom, functional. The others were locked, and went into other rooms.||There were 4 hooks to hang clothes, no clothes hangers.||Small fridge, coffee machine. Food spoiled in fridge, but items were replenished by Claudia.||||The property has amazing views over the bay, it was a shame, the gardens were uncared for. The grass when we arrived was really long. however this was cut the following day. (when you know you have guests, it should be cut regularly). There are numerous planters/tubs around the garden, all full of weeds.||Garden furniture covered in bird droppings. I know there are resident ravens, but it wouldn't take too much to wipe the furniture over daily.||Claudia said they are having a deck built, hence the been no grass at the edge of the garden, they also had no fencing/barrier, a major health and safety issue, given the drop to the beach below.||The electrics underneath, Eagles Nest, also a safety issue.||Breakfast was left out in an adjoining cabin, between 7.30-8.30. Pancake machine, no batter. Pastries/muffins bought from Safeway, not replenished daily. (not an issue been shop bought, but the same ones for every day?)||The only heat in the cabin, is a gas heater in the corner, this vents through the wall, next to the bedroom window. If the heater is on, (pilot light) and bedroom window open, then all the fumes, come into the room, leaving you feeling nauseous and generally unwell.||||The location of the property is the major draw. It is a shame with a bit more TLC from the owners, it could be amazing.
