Close to Wasilla and super private and quiet. The staff were super accommodating and helped us find off season fishing opportunities and made our stay comfortable. Stairs a little steep to the upstairs, but not a deal breaker. It got easier as the week progressed:) Rooms and beds were clean and comfortable. Spending a week there was lovely. Judd and staff were very friendly.

These rooms were very comfortable for couples or a family. The beds were amazing--the most comfortable bed I have ever been on in any motel-vrbo in my life. The patio near the stream was nice to sit by in the evening. It is very secluded so you really have some privacy.

What I got: a trip with meticulous attention to detail, clean and spacious hotel rooms throughout the journey, and unique adrenaline-charged adventures set amongst the most incredible scenery in the world.

Highlights: completely stress-free travel, Denali Lakeview Inn, and flightseeing with a glacier landing.

A little more detail: Listen, I hate planning my vacations. People like me are the reason package tours were invented! I had so much fun selecting different activities and then watching them come to life during my tour. I loved that I didn’t have to manage my trip so all the hassle and stress was taken out of the equation meaning I could just sit back, relax, and enjoy my once-in-a-lifetime vacation.

If you love national parks, then you are really going to love Denali. Denali Lakeview Inn is one of the nicest accommodations I have stayed in near a national park. There were fresh baked brownies waiting for us at check-in and I could step outside of my room to enjoy the beauty and serenity of a lake and mountain backdrop. The room was clean and comfortable, spacious, and the bedding and pillows were downright comfortable especially after a day of hiking! The owners must take great pride in their inn because you can tell they really care about their guests. Oh, and laundry was reasonably priced, so I am glad I packed light!

My favorite adventure was the flightseeing tour. How do you even begin to describe the most breathtaking and daring adventure of your life?! It felt like I could just reach out and touch the mountains as we flew between and over them. The pilot was professional and knowledgeable. If I can recommend one thing on this tour, it’s to upgrade so you can do the glacier landing for an extra $100. The cost is well worth the memory you will never forget!

8-day Best of Alaska - Fantastic tour and perfect family vacation.
We had a wonderful time because of what we got to see, do, and learn; plus sharing the experience as just our family group of 8 (3 generations) made this trip extra special compared with other larger group tours we have done. Additionally, AAU staff I found much more helpful plus more willing and able to answer questions than another company I toured with, likely at least partly due to the other company offering tours worldwide while AAU staff and tours are just in Alaska. This was most notable when I had questions as I was planning what to do during couple days in the area before the tour started for this and another tour taken in 2024. AAU staff member responding to my email could not only answer my question, but was willing to take the time to provide additional information I might find useful whereas the other company was unable/unwilling to help in any way. The 8-day Best of Alaska tour I felt was well organized. Having spent many many hours organizing my own trips including our extra days in Anchorage, I greatly appreciate the effort that it takes to organize a great tour! Our guide/driver Dorothy went out of her way to make sure we were enjoying the tour; we appreciated learning about Alaska from her; and she fit in well with our family. Scenery was spectacular not only at our destinations, but during drives there; greatly appreciated that there were almost no buildings and signs to mar the views – a very nice change from typical drives in other states! Pleasant summer temperatures make Alaska a perfect destination for summer vacation when it can be too hot in many other areas to fully enjoy vacation.

First I will begin with acknowledging we were there at the time Denali park was closed due to forest fires 😭. Of course that is beyond anyone’s control. That being said we were not overly impressed with the tour as a whole. Accommodations were good at most places but the Crows Nest cabins were subpar. Definitely not the deluxe we payed for. The room was bare bones with bathroom door that you could not shut and minuscule wall heater that put out no heat. We actually went to bed very cold and bundled up. While most of the tours we booked were very enjoyable there was still quite a bit of wasted time in the van. We felt we would have been much better off had we gone with our first instincts and rented a car and traveled on our own.

Just completed an 8 day tour with AAU with 7 members of our extended family. Jamie, (our guide for the trip), was outstanding. Very friendly, knowledgeable and made the experience enjoyable and interesting for a mixed age family group.
We were busy every day and the choice of activities ensured that everyone found things to enjoy each day.

5 Stars for everything except for one very subpar set of lodgings in the Crows nest.
Our rooms had exposed wiring , black mold in the bathrooms and looked like a construction site. Whoever vetted these must have had blindfolds on.

AAU should fix this immediately. This was a real black eye on your offering.

We were on the 10 day grand discover of Alaska during June 2024. The weather was perfect and the trip was absolutely amazing. The smaller group size allowed us so much more flexibility than the larger group size. Our AAU tour guide Dwight was the best. We truly got to experience the best of Alaska. We can't thank you enough AAU. We are so happy we took this trip with you ❤️

We had a great stay for the night in one of the chalets. Very comfortable home with a fully equipped kitchen. Lots of selection for the continental breakfast. I highly recommend this place!
