I've been to a lot of rest stops and this is one unique place to stop. It wasn't too long ago that I passed through Alabama and stopped at this welcome center.

The restrooms were clean and there were a lot of great brochures and travel books inside just ready to shows the awesome attractions that the great state of Alabama has to offer.

Oh! There is an picture of the band Alabama hanging on the wall.

Outside of the welcome center is Saturn 1B Rocket which I recently heard is being removed from the premises.

When going through Alabama make sure to stop here and take a good rest.

Nice rest stop with clean, but dated, toilet rooms. There are a few snack/drink options, but I have never used the machines. Always beautiful grounds with some lush plantings. Makes for a softer stop on I-65. The big rocket, for me, is a detractor, but I guess that's what might push people to the space museum.

This is one of the finest welcome center/Rest area's that I've visited. The grounds are just beautiful. Many memorials, statues, and more places to take amazing outdoor pictures than you'll be able to choose from.
Large number of tables, pavilions, and pathways to stretch your legs and find rest.
A covered outdoor vending area provides the option to purchase a wide variety of snacks & drinks with coins, cash, or card.

I definitely recommend this place on your way down South.

Really nice rest stop. Bathrooms were clean. Lots of benches and tables. Good amount of land with green grass. The Saturn IB rocket is there along with a Korean War memorial. One of the better rest stops I’ve been to. Definitely worth stopping to see the rocket even if you don’t have to use the rest stop. There is a dump station for RVs and a ton of vending machines as well.

Best welcome center for everyone and age. Parking for Small to large RV. Bathroom area is usually a 5min wait time. I have never seen so many visitor brochures. Take a pic as an astronaut (cut out). Can't miss the space shuttle!

Interstate rest areas are usually bland, good place to take a break from the road but little else. This one has some great things to see!

Proud of this state to recognize the veterans who paid the ultimate price for our freedom!

And the rocket is awe inspiring!

If you're driving south on I65, take a break and check it out!
