My wife and I had never been to Sitka before. We heard about Sitka Sound Safari though some friends and figured it would be a good start to the trip- best decision we made! First day there we hired Captain Mike to go searching for whales. Honestly, I really just wanted to see the area from the water and doubted we would see any whales- but I’d take them as a bonus. To my surprise, Mike found whales for us in no time! It was like whales on demand. Amazing! My wife captured her first whale tail photos!

Mike has a crazy amazing knowledge of the area- from wildlife to nightlife he seemed to have his finger on the pulse of Sitka. He gave us some great ideas for hikes and places/attractions to see while in town. We took advantage of his knowledge and had an incredible week. By the end of the week our legs were burning from all the hiking adventures. I remembered Mike mentioned a place called Goddard Hot Springs which is only accessible by boat- it seemed like the perfect place to relax and unwind after such a busy week. We hired him again to take us out there- it was incredible and well worth the journey.

Sitka was amazing and it wouldn’t have been the same without Sitka Safari and Captain Mike. Highly recommend these guys!! We’ll be back!

We had an absolutely fantastic time on our private boat tour with Captain Mike! From start to finish, the experience was seamless and enjoyable. Captain Mike was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home on the boat. We were thrilled to see sea lions and otters up close, but the highlight was definitely getting so close to a few huge whales who were apparently feeling curious.

Captain Mike’s expertise and enthusiasm really added to the experience, providing interesting facts and ensuring we got the best possible views of the wildlife. The boat was comfortable and well-maintained, and we felt completely safe throughout the trip. The entire experience exceeded all our expectations; we couldn’t have asked for a better day on the water. Highly recommend this tour with Captain Mike to anyone looking for an amazing and memorable adventure!

We really enjoyed our trip with Captain Mike in July, 2024. It was nice to be on a small(ish) yet very comfortable boat with a personalized tour instead of a big craft shared with many others sightseers. There was no fighting for good viewing space or racing from one side to another; we just... saw things. Captain Mike was really great about personalizing his narration and tour to suit our interests and answer our questions. He was also super tolerant of our rambunctious young boys, as was his wonderful dog whom we had the choice to allow on our excursion.

We saw humpback whales, grey whales, sea lions, otters, bald eagles, salmon, starfish and more.

We had a great afternoon with Capt Mike. We booked him for a trip to Goodard hot springs. Mike answered many questions, took time to slow down so we could see otters and whales. The boat has an enclosed cabin that was very comfortable and warm to ride in. Such a pleasure being on a small boat vs larger boats with many more passengers.

My friend and I went out on a day boat cruise with Mike and Beth. They made sure we were comfortable for an exciting day. The weather was perfect for sight seeing! We were very happy to share this cruise with The Miller family! We got lots of fun and beautiful Alaskan sightseeing photos. We will definitely recommend this experience with friends.

An incredible day trip! Captn Mike was so informative and patient with our high energy family of four. The trip to Goddard Hot Springs took longer than anticipated due to weather but he took his time and made sure all of us stayed comfortable and cozy the whole way. My son loved being “co-captain” and Mike did amazing with answering all 500 of his interview questions about his experience and knowledge. Highly recommend Captn Mike. Super accommodating and family friendly.
