I was fortunate to have found the Fishermen's Inn in Port Alexander Alaska. Kevin and Karen offer such an amazing fishing vacation. To begin, Port Alexander is absolutely gorgeous. Flying with Kevin to the remote fishing locations and being the only people around to enjoy nature to it's fullest. We caught lots of halibut and salmon along with other yummy types. Karen's meals were the most delicious I have eaten. The lodging was top rated all around. This is the ultimate luxury of nature. I can't wait to return soon.

This is my second visit to Fishermen's Inn at Port Alexander. I had a taste of steelhead fishing last year and was determined to try again. I scheduled a trip for mid May, 2015. This place gets the fisherman away from any crowds. The owner/guide Kevin meets the guests in Sitka and flies them to Port Alexander about 45 minutes away. The trip over and along the mountains has scenery that has to be experienced to be believed. Kevin is unbelievably enthusiastic. He loves fishing. We were only able to fish for steelhead for two of the scheduled four days because of fog on the coast. I caught 4 steelhead, and on one of the other days we flew to a lake where I caught a 25 inch rainbow. We flew to another lake to fish for rainbows on the other day. Kevin flew us each day to different locations.|| Although I did not due it this trip, later in the summer nearly any kind of salmon fishing is available for two days of flying and two days of ocean charter.|| Karen handles the lodge which can house up to eight guests. What great dinners we had served family style! I was so concerned about going fishing that I had forgotten how nice were the accommodations. Cell phone service is not available, but they have a telephone and internet. They have satellite TV, but I had no need for that.||We saw whales, bald eagles and sea lions up close and sea otters lying on their backs. If you want to avoid crowds, this is the place to fish.

My son and I returned to Fishermen's Inn for a week of fishing and enjoying the beauty of Alaska. We take father/son trips and returned to Fishermen's Inn after trying another guide on the Kenai River. Karen and Kevin are terrific hosts. The variety of fishing was fantastic, the food was fantastic and it was a trip we will remember for the rest of our lives. Besides seeing humpback whales, otters, eagles, bears, orcas, sea lions and seals, we caught our limit every day which included salmon, halibut, black bass and rockfish. We also did a lot of catch and release fly fishing. We will be back!

I think Excellent is an understatement for Fishermens Inn..||||After years of endless begs from my father to go fishing in Alaska with him, I finally decided to tag along on his one of many visits to Fishermens Inn Port Alexander. I will have to admit, I was a bit nervous to hop on that plane considering my vacations usually consist of beaches and warm weather. I had never been to Alaska before.. let alone fish in wildlife or fly in awesome little planes! However, visiting Sitka, Alaska and staying at the Fishermens Inn was the absolute best trip I have ever been on. Make sure you always stay up to date on the weather..Alaska is notorious for their weather changing. I packed like I was living in an igloo when it was 75 and sunny everyday when I was there.||||Where do I even begin? From Kevin picking up my dad and I in Sitka with groceries all ready to go? Flying us safe to the remote town of Port Alexander? Karen and Kevins amazing hospitality? Kevin's knowledgable fishing guidance? The breathtaking views that are seen from every which direction? Karens Cooking? (I miss that avocado salad!) Their beautiful home? Having the opportunity to fly in a small plane to lakes/rivers to fish where not many people have? I could go on and on but all I know is that even my own twenty-two year old girly-girl self had an awesome time and if I could do it all over again.. I would do it a million more times!||||Speaking from a true-fodie, I can 150% assure you that you will have the BEST homemade breakfast, lunch, dinner, and mouthwatering desserts throughout your stay at Fishermens Inn. If you don't see Karen cleaning (the house was spotless by early morning-- beds always are made-- bathrooms glistened) and providing her guests with her sweet hospitality, she is most likely cooking away in the kitchen. Still to this day probably her cooking was the best home cooking I have ever had! (Sorry mom!) I think I asked for every recipe that trip. Karen always made me feel like I was at home and made the stay very enjoyable and comfortable. ||||When I wasn't eating haha or fishing, I was laughing. Kevin provided my stay with endless laughs and humorous memories but he also taught me a lot about fishing! I usually tend to dread fishing but he made it enjoyable for me and he was very patient which I really liked. I am not a professional like him but I was able to catch my first steelhead fly fishing! Woo! He was even patient with me when my anxiety was shooting through the airplane roof. Haha. He is a very good pilot by the way and I felt very comfortable flying with him (which doesn't happen too often!) ||||Being in the wilderness surrounded by wild life can be a bit scary but Kevin reassured me that I would be okay and made the experience much more enjoyable and relaxing. This was very nice because I was able to take the moment in and really experience Alaska for what it truly is. There was never a set plan for my dad and I. Kevin always left it in our ball park which I always enjoyed but he always wanted show us his favorite spots which I also loved. There was a variety of fishing to choose from which was also really neat. After fishing was done and pounds of fish were ready to come home... Kevin always made sure that the fish are (I don't know the fishing lingo) but basically nice and packaged ready to go home for you to eat 🙂 This is always a big plus when going on a fishing trip. By the way-- Karen and Kevin know fishing and they will help you catch the best and teach you how to cook different kinds of fish. ||||I think if you're looking for a once in a lifetime adventure then.. Fishermens Inn is your best route. Kevin and Karen Mulligan always made sure that my dad and I enjoyed every minute of our stay. I have never been so far away from home yet I felt I was at home. . I felt as though I was leaving family by the end of the trip and did not want to come back home. ||||Thank you Karen & Kevin for always being wonderful and for giving me the experience of a lifetime. I have been coming to Fishermens Inn for many years (15 to be exact)|You don’t need to go anywhere else!!||Kevin and Karen always have new adventures.|You can go boat fishing for king salmon, silvers, rock fish, lingcod and jugging for halibut..|Pontoon snagging for sockeye is a lot of fun.|Also, you can go trophy trout and steelhead fishing in the nearby lakes, streams and creeks. (If you ask him Kevin might even fly you to a private lake for a shore trout lunch after flying fishing for rainbow and cutthroats)||If you’re a golfer talk to Kevin about the 18 hole August tournament.||If you’re a hunter there are Sitka blacktail deer close by.||If you are a photographer there are bald eagles and lots of humpback whales plus beautiful scenery.||The town of Port Alexander is amazing.|If you are a hiker there are plenty of trails and boardwalks (no cars) plus there are some old World War 2 artifacts in the back bay. ||If you come in August you can catch the dogfish salmon run in the nearby creek.||The accommodations are great especially considering the remoteness of the town and the difficulty of getting supplies delivered. The hot tub is a must after a tiring day of fishing.||Karen is an amazing cook and you might go home a few pounds heavier than you came.||I can’t say enough about the hosts, Kevin and Karen; they will go out out their way to make sure you have a great time.||This year I took my daughter for the second time....she had a blast!!|And raved again about Karen’s cooking.||If you’re up for an Alaskan adventure—|Fishermens inn is the best Alaska has to offer..||

I was traveling to Port Alexander for work. Kevin provided convenient transportation to and from Sitka and Karen took care of all our needs at the lodge. This allowed us to focus on our jobs with minimal down time. It is a great place to stay in an interesting community. They were able to tailor their schedule to fit our needs.||The rooms were spacious, the temperature perfect, and the bed was too good to describe. Best night's sleep I have had in a year!

Kevin and Karen at Fisherman's Inn were fantastic for our trip in July. We had an incredible variety of fish both in the salt and in the freshwater. All five species of salmon, and over ten total in the freshwater and salt! I couldn't have been happier with the amenities and the friendliness of the lodge. The scenery is amazing and words can't describe the beauty of PA. If you want a wilderness experience with the comforts of home, with more fish than you can count, this is your place. Reviews are great but you'll never know until you go. It's worth every penny and more. I'll be back for sure.

I was one of the five college buddies who traveled to Port Alexander (PA) June 22, 2014. This is the first time I have ever been 'blown away'. The remote location and way of life are just incredible. I personally fished on the salt water with Glen Smith (Chatam Strait Charters) three days. On our third day we finally found the Kings and caught four. After the fourth Glen ran for the radio and announced to all "Game Over! Happy Birthday to me!" Yep, it was his birthday. He stayed out late for us to catch our halibut that same day. Glen and his wife Shanna became our new friends, along with their daughters, the seal in the bay and the Bald Eagles who waited for leftovers. Tell them 'camo Dave' sent you:)||Kevin and Karen - I felt at the end of the trip like I was leaving my brother and sister! They became our AK family. We ate and talked until late, usually going to bed after midnight.||Bottom line? If you want to just go to AK and haul in the fish, find when the kind you want are running strong and go harvest them. But if you want to have an Alaskan experience, get away from civilization and literally have a trip of a lifetime - call Kevin and Karen. I caught black bass, copper bass, ling cod, halibut, King salmon, Dolly Varden, Rainbow trout and a Yellow Eye. These people KNOW fish and fishing. Your only decision is when to go. The sad part is - - - you have to go home sometime.||p.s. Hey Kevin - some King is in my smoker right now using the recipe you have on the wall in the freezer room!
