Grant and Lila were the most amazing and gracious hosts - from educating us about their years of fishing to learning about their amazing boat to a guided tour of their garden to a super delicious Norwegian breakfast - they were engaging and entertaining and made us feel right at home. The downstairs suite is super complete with a full kitchen and Grant and Lila welcomed us to use their washer and dryer (quite a relief after a week on a cruise and having done only carry on luggage - so we were short on clean or dry clothes for sure!). They educated us to what to do and see about town and Grant even took us to pick up some smoked salmon at a coveted spot before taking us to the airport. They are the most delightful couple and we had an amazing time!

Great breakfasts, and very friendly and welcoming hosts! The apartment was perfect for our stay - bright and clean - with well-equipped kitchen, full bathroom, bedroom, and dining/living area. The neighborhood is very quiet, and is only two blocks from the main street through Petersburg. We enjoyed Lila and Grant's Alaska stories and appreciated all the local information. They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable!

We stayed two nights in August 2019 at Lila and Grant’s home. Their home is impeccably neat, clean and well furnished, from the cheerful flower beds to the spotless tub and clever towel rack. We stayed with them the day before and after our boat charter trip. The included breakfast meals were delicious including home made muffins, made to order smoked salmon omelets and wild rice waffles with lots of fresh fruit. The ensuite had a full kitchen, separate bedroom, large living area with comfortable futon couch/bed and a extra large mud room for staging your expedition gear. The wifi was easy to connect to and fast. They are gracious and welcoming hosts who considerately picked us up and dropped us at the airport. They are conveniently located a short walk to shops, restaurants and the harbor. We highly recommend their B&B and would stay with them again!

We needed a place close to the swimming pool for watch our grandaugher in the November Rain Swim Meet. It is the first house at the end of the pools parking lot.||The apartment was much more than we ever expected. Lila and Grant are some of the kindest and thoughtful people I've ever met. Meeting them has enriched our lives.||We had 3 adults and one 8 year old in our party and we had plenty of room.

We met Grant in front of his house while we strolled through his neighborhood we killing time before dinner. We stopped to admire the produce from his garden. He explained that he and his wife ran a bed and breakfast here, told us a bit of their story, and invited us to stay with them upon our next visit to Petersburg.||One week later, we needed overnight accommodations in Petersburg when our flight out was unexpectedly canceled due to mechanical problems. We immediately thought of Das Hagedorn Haus and with one phone call we were in.||The rate was excellent, the home was very homey, and we really enjoyed our one night stay.||Here’s what stands out:|-Grant’s wife picked us up.|-Grant offered me several hand-picked Alaska short story books for me to read before bed.|-An amazing breakfast- including local spruce syrup on the oatmeal buttermilk pancakes with fresh berries and egg casserole.|-Grant offered a blessing on the food|-Grant gave us a short town tour on the way back to the airport.||I think it is the spirit of family love one feels at Das Hagedorn Haus.||

I thought I posted a review after our stay in July 2019, but it was brought to my attention that I mentioned it in a trip report, not a review. It was on the lower floor of their house, but you wouldn't think about it being in the basement. It was clean, comfortable, and much more room than the two of us needed for one night. He and Lila were gracious hosts and served a delicious, cooked to order breakfast the next morning. ||||They offered to give us a ride to our Le Conte Glacier tour the next morning, or back to the ferry in the evening, even though we'd be checked out by then. We didn't need to take them up on their kind offer; we decided instead to walk the short distance to the downtown to rent a car, which allowed us to see an awful lot in those two afternoons. ||||I’d love to come back to Petersburg for a longer visit sometime, and I’d definitely stay at Das Hagedorn Haus.

Friendly and informative hosts. Very comfortable and has everything you need. Stayed for HS sports. Steps away from high school/middle school and two small blocks from downtown.
