We're had such a great time and we didn't mind being a half hour away from Fairbanks. The drive was like looking at postcards everyday and the views along the way are spectacular. The Grand Finale was we saw the Aurora. It was so far beyond there are no words. Thank you Northern Sky Lodge!

We stayed three nights in January in the Bear room. The lodge is about a 30 minute drive from the Fairbanks Airport and far enough off the main road so it felt like we were really out in the wilderness. It's surrounded by a forest with trails to hike on, which was completely silent except for the crunch of snow under boots. Check-in was easy, continental breakfast was satisfactory and we enjoyed chatting with other guests.

Our room was on the second floor, which we liked because we could look out the windows at the view from a little higher up. The bed was comfortable and we could control the heat to our liking. The only drawback of being on the second floor is that you have to use an outside staircase to get to the common rooms/breakfast, which meant bundling up when it was -20 outside.

I've stayed at this lodge twice. The first time I saw the aurora. It's a great location for this. The second time, I had cloud cover for 10 days. No luck. The lodge is clean, elegant, comfortable, and quiet. The furnished kitchen makes it easy to bring your own food and hunker down for a few days. There is a cozy shared living room and dining room space. Sometimes there are interesting guests to talk to. Sometimes everyone feels quiet and sticks to themselves. Depends. You probably won't even see the hosts, but they are available if you need them and they set everything up for easy self check in. You can drive down to Denali for the day, which is nice. There are a few hikes in driving range too. I highly recommend as a place to try to see the aurora. But have a back up plan for something else to do, since the lodge is a bit isolated.

This lodge is simply amazing. It’s outside of Fairbanks and is absolutely stunning. The area around the lodge is great for hiking, great aurora views (when the weather cooperates), and very quiet! Rex (one of the owners) is incredibly friendly, very welcoming, and easy to get a hold of should you have questions/need something. Rooms are comfortable, bed was comfortable, and there’s plenty of kitchen stuff if you want to cook your own meals. We have zero complaints! Highly recommend this lodge.

We spent one night on our way back to Anchorage. We were hoping to see an aurora, but clouds got in the way. If the weather had been clear, this would be a wonderful location for viewing. The inn is cute, clean and cozy. The group kitchen set up is outstanding - everything you need and more. Remember to bring your food to prepare, as there is nothing to purchase close by. Only issue was the walls and floors (we were on a bottom floor room) are a bit thin and people getting up at night to check for auroras can seem noisy. As we were leaving, we noticed ear plus are available. Overall, a good place to stay.

It is an unusual B&B, I loved the common space, There was a great back yard with a great 2 mile hike. Rex was very helpful when texted or called, but it was a little strange to never meet a host. There was a young couple who put out bagels and coffee, but they were not hosts. I also expected a B&B that features the Northern Lights to have a bit more information regarding the Northern Lights. We were pretty much on our own. Lastly the benefits of being 30 minutes from Fairbanks was also a detriment at times. There were grocery stores or restaurants between Northern Sky and Fairbanks, so come prepared to make food in their nice kitchen or buy lunch food in Fairbanks and eat out there.

We spent 2 nights at Northern Sky Lodge and loved it! Beautiful inn and wonderful hosts. Very clean and spacious. Would definitely stay again whenever I am near Fairbanks. We took the Arctic Circle tour out of Fairbanks, approximately 30 minutes away, and did not return until 4 AM. Rex was very accommodating allowing us a later check out so we could get some much needed sleep.
